rundll32.exe error
I have gotten my program installed, and are using the appropriate wine friendly patcher, but when I try to run it to update the program (Lord of the Rings Online) I get an error:
rundll32.exe has encountered a serious error… etc etc etc.
Any idea’s of what I should do with this?

Wine Version : 1.3.4
Gah! I didn’t see the little patch thing at the top. It’s hard to be a chronological reader and have to go back up to the top after I’ve been through the whole thing to just get it installed…
Anyway, I got it (supposedly, it’s patching as we speak) and I thank you for your help!

I seriously doubt thats related to the problem at all… does .icns do anything at all but try to make an icon for Macs out of a .lnk?

При обновлении wine или переходе на другую ветку (stable/staging) выдает эту ошибку и крашет старт прог требующих .Net (40, 452, 461)
Нужно использовать именно .Net, так как приложение clickonce и на моно не стартует. Решение проблемы в интернете не нашел, помогает только удаление папки .wine
Может кто знает как решать без удаления папки и повторной настройки?

На самом деле в интернете есть описания как настроить Wine для работы с .net-программулями. Попробуй пройти по этим шагам заново. Быть может до обновления что-то держалось на честном слове и было deprecated и вот при обновлении отъехало, но новые мануалы могут помочь сделать это заново с новой версией, потому что некоторые механизмы в новых Wine требуют новых подходов

Забавно, что типа кросплатформенный дотнет максимально костыльно запускается под вайном. Эти фреймворки никогда нормально не ставились.
Слава индусу, что запилили dotnet core, теперь под линуксом хоть один нормальный язык будет. Сейчас ещё gui допилят с XAML и я выброшу Qt на проприетарную помойку.

Gah! I didn’t see the little patch thing at the top. It’s hard to be a chronological reader and have to go back up to the top after I’ve been through the whole thing to just get it installed…
Anyway, I got it (supposedly, it’s patching as we speak) and I thank you for your help!

I seriously doubt thats related to the problem at all… does .icns do anything at all but try to make an icon for Macs out of a .lnk?
What we need to help you (TLDR):

надо установить программу по автозапчастям, скачал с сайта setup.exe
Установил wine cо всеми настройками как в описании. При попытке запустить этот файл — открывается explorer This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below
Что можно сделать?

честно сказавши с префиксом не особо разобрался.
Но решил попробовать запустить другой exe файл, скачал тотал командер и все запустилось и установилось без проблем.
Как я понимаю мой setub.exe скаченный с сайта размером 525,8кВ это ней загрузочный файл, а только отсылка к загрузке программы.
Чем можно помочь в этой ситуации?

Есть небольшой прогресс, уже запускается setup.exe, открывается вклад установить приложение. При установке вылазит ошибка
SYSTEM UPDATE REQUARED. Unable to install or run this application. This application requires your system to be updated to Microsoft common Lanuage Runtime version 4.0.30319.0
При работе с winetricks не поставил dotnet 3.0sp1, 3.5+(k),3.5sp1(+k) ,4 +
выдает ошибку error: dotnet30 conflicts with dotnet20sp1, which is already installed.А если поствить сразу dotnet4,0 тогда setup.exe не открывается вообще
сейчас установил dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe, скачаный с нета. Теперь вроде как услоновилась программа и теперь при запуска на секунду появляется заставка программы и пропадает. никаких ошибок не показывает

I’ve run into the issue that a game trips over case sensitive filenames. I could correct this for existing files but then I would have to redo that when I add/copy files and whatnot.
So I thought I had a smart idea, I created a 40GB file with DD, formatted it with mkfs.vfat and mounted it. I added the following line to fstab:
#fat32
/mnt/Data/home/citizen/fat32.img /mnt/Data/home/citizen/fat32 vfat loop,user,rw,umask=111,dmask=000,noatime,norelatime,nodiratime 0 0I mounted it under my regular user account issuing mount -a.
Next, I added a symlink while sitting in my homedir for Crossover’s settings directory:
I can enter the dir .cxoffice and create files and dirs. So far so good.
When I start Crossover and create a new bottle to install Steam and the game, I get the following error message:
An error occurred while running the ‘Creating the Steam bottle’ task
Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
The explorer process failed to start.
wine: cannot find L»\\?\unix\opt\cxoffice\lib\wine\rundll32.exe.so»

I’m lost, I have no idea what that means.
Some other info that might be relevant. My root filesystem is BTRFS and /mnt/Data is a RAIDZ1 on ZFS. I doubt it matters but you never know.

Есть небольшой прогресс, уже запускается setup.exe, открывается вклад установить приложение. При установке вылазит ошибка

При работе с winetricks не поставил dotnet 3.0sp1, 3.5+(k),3.5sp1(+k) ,4 +
выдает ошибку error: dotnet30 conflicts with dotnet20sp1, which is already installed.А если поствить сразу dotnet4,0 тогда setup.exe не открывается вообще
сейчас установил dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe, скачаный с нета. Теперь вроде как услоновилась программа и теперь при запуска на секунду появляется заставка программы и пропадает. никаких ошибок не показывает

и все таки я победил. Удалил полностью вайн со всеми настройками. Установил заново как описано тут https://losst.ru/ustanovka-wine-linux-mint. Настроил winetricks как написано тут https://forum.ubuntu.ru/index.php?topic=199897.0 + добавил пару позиций от себя и вуаля запустилось все

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Installing dotnet35 on a clean wineprefix 32bit using winetricks 20120819
2. it fails even if I run echo 0|sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
before the installation
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I could install dotnet35 before but now the installation fails at
netframework3. I'm seeing a window with information that loading of installer
elements failed and in terminal:
dotnet30 install completed, but installed file
/media/Dane/.wine-Giana//dosdevices/c:/windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v3.0/Micr
osoft .NET Framework 3.0/logo.bmp not found
There is also rundll32.exe window with error message:
Please set registry key
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET
Framework install location
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Wine 1.5.11 compiled with gcc4.5 (for Bug 22053) and Wine 1.5.8 from Ubuntu PPA
Ubuntu 12.04.1 64bit (Proposed enabled)
Kernel 3.5.0-11-generic (from xorg-edgers PPA)

I successfully installed dotnet35sp1 (which I believe includes dotnet30) on
following configuration:
- winetricks 20120819 (obtained from

- wine 1.5.9
- Sabayon (rolling distro at latest version) x86_64

Changes after which the problem started:
- wine 1.5.9 > 1.5.10

I've updated my winetricks today but the installation of dotnet35 still fails.
This time it stops at dotnet20sp1.
dotnet20sp1 install completed, but installed file
/media/Dane/.wine-NET//dosdevices/c:/windows/assembly/NativeImages_v2.0.50727_32
/indexb.dat not found
The dotnet30 installation succeeded but this doesn't change the fact that
dotnet35 fails.

You can check to see if winetricks is falsely reporting failure
by running 'winetricks dotnet_verifier', then doing
'wine netfx_setupverifier.exe'
If .net 2.0 sp1 validates ok, then it's a winetricks bug.

I just tested dotnet35 installation. winetricks successfully installed it on
following configuration:
- wine 1.5.16
- winetricks 20120912 (obtained from svn an hour ago)
- sabayon x86_64
There were no problems with installing dotnet20sp1 in the middle of dotnet35
installation.
The only difference between my and author of comment #9 setups are wine version
(mine is a bit older) and distro.
Running 'winetricks dotnet_verifier' always fails with "sha1sum mismatch!
Rename
/home/winer/.cache/winetricks/dotnet_verifier/netfx_5F00_setupverifier_5F00_new.
zip and try again."
But this tool http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx
says that all .net frameworks (2.0 sp1, 3.0 sp1 and 3.5) are fine.

I've tested it again today and this time everything installed without problems.
The .Net verifier succeeded with dotnet 2.0 sp1, 3.0 sp1 and 3.5.
I had the same problem as Andriy with "winetricks dotnet_verifier" but
extracting that downloaded archive manually worked and then I could run the
program.

Neither dotnet20sp1 nor dotnet30 work with Wine 1.5.26 and winetricks 20120912.
Verifier cannot find the installations but winetricks claims files are missing
anyway.

Confirming that replacing the line:

in winetricks, allows me to get through the dotnet30 stage part of dotnet35sp1.
( Using wine-1.6-rc4, and a version of winetricks I grabbed from the repo
around last weekend ).

For the XPSEP issue, that should be fixed by r1038.

This is certainly not fixed for me. First the XPSEP patch in r1038, message 22
has not been applied in winetricks version 20130707 then the install of
dotnet3.5 fails in a couple of places. I applied that patch by hand.
The first failure is in some auxiliary program, which fails if you try to
register it to view some sort of file type which escapes me right now.
The second failure is that now dotnet3.5 does not recognize any of the prior
dotnet installs. The errors it reports are,

OK retried on a clean wine prefix and it actually worked, I think. I haven't
verified it yet. I'll try that later.
The primary difference between this time and last time was that I chose not to
register that MS XMS essentials program. If you register it, it breaks things
I guess.

Hi, I had this issue on a wine 1.73, when trying to install .net 3.5, it would
first try to install .net 3.0 SP1, which would fail.
Based on Anton's initial comments, I went into ~/.cache/winetricks/dotnet30 and
renamed XPSEP%20XP%20and%20Server%202003%2032%20bit.msi to XPSEP\ XP\ and\
Server\ 2003\ 32\ bit.msi, and I no longer had problems with installing via
winetricks.

I would be glad to finally install .net 3.5, however there is no
~/.cache/winetricks whatsoever. I have installed wine and bottler on my MacBook
Pro (OSX 10.8.5), and looking in my local current user directory (or any other
in /Users/Home for that matter).
What am I doing wrong here?

Found the following output in the winetricks terminal:

That's a separate issue (and more likely a wine bug), though hard to say
