I was trying to install a couple of Waves plugins and did enter/register their serials at the Waves website. The problem I had was within Waves Central after clicking on Easy Install, selected the two plugins, and install…..I keep getting an error message stating there was a problem with the install and to contact Waves Support if the error continues (which I did do yesterday).

I also have a couple of other Waves plugins that were previously installed through WC and never did have any issues with the installation. Just checking in here if to see if anyone else has run into this or knows of a solution (not sure how good Waves support is).
TIA

I should’ve mentioned that when running WC, it does look for an updated version and then I log into WC…..so, I «assumed» I didn’t need to do anything there. My last resort was to uninstall/reinstall…..which I haven’t done yet.

Thanks Mike…..good to know they’re excellent.

+1 for excellent support. When I had an issue last year, they arranged to call me, took control of my pc and spent an hour sorting my problem out. All resolved.

Had the same thing Mesh. try to install again, then click on follow instructions to trouble shoot. Its in the error message. Go down to about the 5th thing to try. It tells you were to go to delete cache. Delete it and run it again. make sure all you plugs are in the cloud before you try and do Easy Install Activate. If I was at computer I would give you exact instructions but this should be good enough. It worked for me.

I had a similar issue with the cache which got resolved. In the end I just launch my licenses from a thumb drive, so I don’t need to be online all of the time.

With this update because there was a new plugin added to Mercury I had to update it in my online account so the addition was reflected in the installer. I don’t remember ever having to do this before.

When an update doesn’t work for some reason

Before you reinstall always make sure to delete the folder

C:/User/YourUserName/Appdata/Local/WavesAudio

Reboot and then reinstall all your files.

Larry was right and thanks BassDaddy for those extra tips (was very helpful in sorting things out). I was running an older version of WC (even though the old installer was claiming to search for updates every time I ran it……not very intuitive).
I didn’t have to delete the cache folder and I saw (within the WC) that it was installed. I did temporarily turn off some of the options in Windows Defender/Firewall etc… (per Waves suggestions) when running the installer.

However, I noticed during the installation process (on the older version as well as the newer) that it was locking up/slowing down/generally not being able to access other apps (i.e. Task Mgr., Win Explorer, access Task Bar items etc…) on my PC.
That concerned me quite a bit as I’ve never had any issues like this with any installer or anything else for that matter on this machine (on my older XP machines yes, I had the system slow down due to the 4GB RAM limit). Just not sure how this WC installer (consistently) could bring my system to a halt like that?? I rebooted and tested to see if it was the WC that was causing this……surely enough, it was (the latest version). It finally installed after a few runs at it.
IMO, this installer could use a LOT of improvements and I also had to enter the serials in my online account for the installer to see it……not very intuitive at all .

Anyway, it’s installed within WC but I haven’t yet tested the plugins in Sonar. I also got an email this morning from tech support at Waves stating to use the latest version. I’ll definitely let them know my experience with this.

Thanks to all of you for all your help…..you guys rock!!!

WC spawns a crap ton of threads to do it’s thing somewhat asynchronously. That’s likely where the «slowdown» is coming from.

I’m inclined to agree with you Dan as I noticed youtube and other sites were being affected during this. I just don’t like my system being at the mercy of WC.

Glad to help Meshy!  Ya…not very intuitive, and, for the
most part, even when WC checks for updates, it doesn’t see
them…and the WORST part is you can’t uninstall individual
plugins.  You have to uninstall EVERYTHING and then reinstall
what you want…that’s DUMB

I ran Sonar to make sure all the Waves plugins were working. I could see all the other plugins, but out of the 2 new ones installed (SSL E Channel & Brauer Motion), only the SSL shows up. I went through each audio fx plugin and couldn’t find Brauer……I could see all of them within the Waves Shell (on my C: drive).

 Any thoughts?

Presuming these are all VST3 versions and rerun a VST scan, if you need to it manually, only that the license has not been copied along with the rest of them to your thumb drive or wherever you keep them.

I’m not exactly sure what Waves has installed (not at my DAW now), but I generally install VST2’s & 3’s and only 64bit. The licenses were registered at the waves website and I did see that all the licenses were the «Full Version» within WC.
Is there an option within the WC to choose what gets installed? (I don’t remember seeing anything during installation)

Yes. When running WC, choose Install, then on the left side choose from the cloud. Then you can pick what you want to install by putting a check mark by the plugs you want to install. As you put a check by the plug, it should move to the right panel. Then hit install.

I would check and make sure Bauer Motion was installed.

UP Во, и чувак на квр пишет что после последнего апдейта через централ ID плагина поменялся ))) «Now my projects with automation data won’t work propertly» http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=451130#p6305804

C:Waves
C:ProgramDataWaves Audio
C:Program Files (x86)Waves
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesWPAPI

UP3

Acronis True Image

Acronis True Image —

Acronis True Image

Waves central

I had a heck of time upgrading to Waves 9.6 last week. I finally got everything installed and running. DRM and obfuscation is truly a wonderful thing for users (NOT). I’ll note that you now have no choice as to where the Waves plugs are installed.

You think I would have learned my lesson, but I got another Waves plug during their Cyber Monday sale today, used Waves Central to install & authorize it — and it did not show up in REAPER! «Rescan» — nothing. >:-(

After some thrashing, I found out (on Windows x64) that if you delete all the «WavesShell_VST_9.6. » lines from reaper-vstplugins64.ini and restart REAPER the new plugs appear. I suspect that just removing the «WaveShell_VST_9.6_x64.dll=123456789,0, » line would do it. My theory is that now that everything runs through WavesShell, you have to ‘touch’ WavesShell so REAPER calls it’s init routine, which I suspect is the only time WS looks for new plugs.

Hope this helps others who find themselves in the same situation. I’m fairly sure (for the masochists) «Delete VST cache and re-scan» would also work.

it seems that users have trouble to install Waves plugins. A few explanations may be helpful.
This is how it works:

On Windows, the Waves installer copies all required files (DLL and others) into an installation directory
named «c:Program FilesWaves» (32 bit OS) or «c:Program Files(x86)Waves» (64 bit OS).

The Waves installation folder contains a subfolder named «Waveshells».

The Waveshell gives you access to all Waves plugins. It is like a single DLL file that contains all Waves plugins.
Several versions are available:

  • WaveShell-VST 9.6.dll . VST2 plugins for 32 bit DAW
  • WaveShell-VST 9.6_x64.dll . VST2 plugins for 64 bit DAW
  • WaveShell-VST3 9.6.vst3 . VST3 plugins for 32 bit DAW
  • WaveShell-VST3 9.6_x64.vst3 . VST3 plugins for 64 bit DAW

In short, you must copy the required WaveShell file to your plugins folder.

Proceed as follows in order to use Waves VST2 plugins:

1. Locate your VST plugins folder (e.g. c:VstPlugins)

2. In this folder, create a subfolder named «Waves»

3. Copy the required Waveshell DLL file into this subfolder

Certain Waves VST2 plugins offer sidechain functionality. These plugins
feature an [SC] icon in the upper left corner, next to the Waves logo.

Examples: C1 comp, C1 gate, RCompressor, InPhase.

Click the [SC] icon in the upper left corner of the plugin to switch from internal
to external gain reduction detection.
[SC] black = internal detection; [SC] orange = sidechain inputs used for detection.

Proceed as follows in order to use Waves VST3 plugins:

1. Locate the VST3 folder
«c:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3» (normal case)
«c:Program Files(x86)Common FilesVST3» (special case: 64 bit OS with 32 bit DAW)

2. In this folder, create a subfolder named «Waves»

3. Copy the required Waveshell VST3 file into this subfolder

Certain Waves VST3 plugins offer sidechain funtionality.

Examples: C1 comp, C1 gate, RCompressor, InPhase, VocalRider

The «plug-in pin connector» window is used to switch from internal to
external gain reduction detection. Sidechain inputs are used for detection
if they are connected in the connector window. Otherwise the normal input
signal determines gain reduction.

Make sure that the VST plugins folder (and optionally also the VST3 plugins folder) is specified in the Reaper VST preferences. After [Clear cache/re-scan], Reaper will show all installed Waves plugins although only the related Waveshell has been scanned.

That sort of confirms what I was thinking. However, from my experiences so far REAPER will not «see» new plugins added unless you get it to call the WaveShell initialization routine (by removing the WaveShell from the appropriate plugin INI file or doing a full clear cache + rescan)

Edit: I just retested this and confirmed new WaveShell plugs don’t show up in REAPER until you remove the «WaveShell_VST_9.6_x64.dll=0123456789,0, » line from the reaper-vstplugins64.ini file. I haven’t tested the ‘clear cache and rescan’ theory yet (and hope not to!)

Also I find I often get weird errors in Waves Central unless I start it using ‘Run as Administrator.’

it seems that users have trouble to install Waves plugins. A few explanations may be helpful.
This is how it works:

I assume you are from Waves?

well, your explanations are another reason why I dont use Waves and will not use Waves plugins.

is there another way thinkable to install plugins without all that hassle? how do other developers do it? is it really wise, to force an installation path on the user?? there are so many reasons to have the plugins NOT on C:

but you professional developers (with that prices for plugins) are not able to develop an installer that lets the user choose? or are you not willing to do so? ok, then its your problem. you will loose customer after customer, because Waves is since some time not the top of the cream anymore, if it anytime was the top at all, what I really doubt.

this whole thing is ridiculous. I wanted to jump on the black friday plugin, saw that I would have to install Waves central, read a little bit about it and thought to myself: well, f*** Waves reverb, there are other that are at least equally good.

time will come and time will tell. but that thread and especially that post is telling that everyone should be think about Waves twice and if in doubt, leave it out. Waves is for me of no interest, and I think, that many others feel the same.

maybe you at Waves rethink what you are doing. hope it for you.

Here is some person that may have been from waves, from what I see what he or she was trying to do was give help and advice.

When the hell are we going to start entreating people instead of dissing people.

Not every one has had a bad experience with waves and they that have had a bad experience are still using waves plugins.

many do use waves and many dont, but its not only waves that some have bad experiences there are many plugins that people have bad experiences with.

I for one have not had that many bad experiences with waves and even now with waves central am finding it very quick and easy to install and use plugins, when i here of some of the problems people have i am baffled, because I just dont get them,

truth is you really dont need waves central to install your plugins, only there newly made plugins you will need waves central.

From what I am being told waves is soon going to be supporting reaper just like they started supporting FL.

But one thing must be said if we are representing a reaper forum then we must make people welcome, and if there trying to help then except it, it may not have helped you but it would have helped some one else.

The cyber world is huge it would be quite impossible not to have a bad experience with plugins and vsts instruments,

If you were working for waves and you were told to distribute a product a certain way thats what you need to do.

Alot of this difficulty in dongles and licenses, and it only can be installed here or there came because of thieves people who steal software and crack software and share it with all there friends,

Yes it can still be cracked but it makes it a little more difficult.

So lets give the guys from waves a little brake, they have really contributed to the musical needs of thousands of music producers, given great quality of plugins and have pushed the boundary of plugin creation, and emulation, lets stop bad mouthing these company’s on this reaper forum it does not look right and it does not represent me and many more people who are involved in this forum.

Had waves on my studio computer many years, never had a problem running their installer.

Trying to run it on this secondary computer I get a crash that says can’t get permissions and list all these locations where it can’t get permissions.

I looked at my explorer and my folders have read only button but I installed S15 and a bunch of stuff lately without any problem.

They’re offering to troubleshoot the problem remotely.

I don’t know about that…

Should I let them do that?

Thanks

I was going to put this in the off topic forum but it is gone.

Reboot, make sure no other apps are running. Perhaps temp disable your antivirus.

You could try creating a new user account under Windows and log in. Then try to install. That would rule out a corrupted user profile.

Yea, I’m going to do that later today.

Thanks all.

I went through lots of restarts, shutting down firewall, changing permissions of folders etc.

i Let them in my machine once. Was totally harmless IMHO. I watched
I installed Wireshark to check on some suspicious internet traffic. All my Waves plugins stopped working saying not installed. Turns out Waves uses the LAN config as a check or something for machine based licensing, and when PCAP installed the pseudo adapter, that bungled Waves..

Yea, I haven’t had any problems in so long I forgot basics.

Delete the download and download again, uninstall application, reinstall.

He did shut a lot of security down in Windows first.

It was cool. Doing a separate installation for version 9 plugins now.

Thanks everyone.

    Hi Community,
im here on Windows 10, i used to had the WAVES Complete version from last Year without any Problems, but now i want to install the newer Versions from this Year but it wont let me. Everytime i want to install
waves central «CENTRAL HAS ENCOUNTERED A SYSTEM PERMISSION ISSUE» shows up in the instalation window so i need to close it.
I tried a lot of things like deleting local host machine and all of them other folders, restarting and so on but nothing helps im also logged in as admin on my PC

  2. The error indicates the installer tries to copy file(s) to a path he actually has’nt write permissions for.
Normally the installer does’nt need elevated rights but nevertheless would try to start the installer as admin

How to Solve ‘Installation Failed’ Errors in Waves Central
    https://www.waves.com/support/error-during-product-installation-using-waves-central#restart

This means that Waves Central is encountering an issue when attempting to write files to your computer..

Try each of the following steps, one at a time, then try to install again.
If the issue persists, move on to the next step.

    1. Quit all running programs/applications except for Waves Central.
    2. Access Waves Central’s Settings tab, then press Clear next to ‘Clear Central cache.’
    3. This error may also occur if the sample library location is not accessible to Waves Central.Access Waves Central’s Settings tab, then press Change next to ‘Sample libraries data folder.’Set the location to: Applications > Waves > Data > Instrument Data.
    4. Restart your machine.
    5. Uninstall any previously installed Waves products. Full instructions can be found here.
    6. Verify that you have Administrator privileges on your operating system.
    7. If you do not, or if the issue persists, create a new Administrator user account.

Installation failed – The user hasn’t granted permission

This is often displayed when Waves Central encounters a permission issue when trying to read or write a file to or from your drive:

If you are prompted with a ‘Waves Central wants to make changes’ message, please allow this by clicking ‘Yes’ in Windows or by typing your Mac’s System User and Password in order to grant proper permissions.

Try each of the following steps, one at a time, then try to install again.
If the issue persists, move on to the next step.

    1. Ensure you have granted Waves Central permission to run its processes:
      • Windows: After clicking ‘Install’, click Yes when prompted by a message that reads ‘Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?’
      • Mac: After clicking ‘Install’, enter your Mac’s Username and Password when prompted, then click OK.
    2. Close all currently running programs/applications except for Waves Central.
    3. In Windows: Right-click Waves Central, and choose ‘Run as Administrator.’
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Verify that you have Administrator privileges on your operating system.
    6. If you do not, or if the issue persists, create a new Administrator user account.

    hi beat15,
    bei punkt 3. unten steht
In Windows: Right-click Waves Central, and choose ‘Run as Administrator.’ und dann punkt 4 restart, meinen die nachdem die installation zu ende ist oder während ich punkt 3 ausführe?

  6. You mentioned that you had a previous version of Waves installed.
So I would start completely over.
In this case, it makes sense to uninstall Waves and Waves Central completely and delete all residues by hand of Waves from the system.

    So search in the paths:

    %APPDATA%\Waves Audio
    %APPDATA%\Waves Central
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Waves Audio
    %PROGRAMDATA%\Waves Audio
    C:\Users\Public\Waves Audio
    C:\program files\
    C:\program files\Common files
    c:\Program Files (x86)
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common files

After you cleared everything make sure you are using an administrator account to run Waves Central in it’s context.
Install Waves Central and then Waves as you need.

If that does’t work redo all of the above cleaning steps, this time define a new Administrator account and use this account to install Waves central and the Waves (point 6 in @BEAT17s description)

    Please check your mailbox!

  10. I don’t really believe that, because it’s about the operating system’s messages. But it is still possible. Try it.

However, I have had more success by using the R2R’s release. R2R uses its own installer and not the Waves Central routine, which can do things in the background that we don’t know about.
So if everything else fails, use the R2R installer from sister site.

    Good luck!

p.s.: Even with the release of R2R it is possible to install updated components from Waves with WavesCentral. So you have no disadvantage if you install R2R’s release.
But I don’t want to confuse you unnecessarily: If you have questions about this, we’ll clarify them separately.

How to fix the «waves central has encountered a system permissions issue» error when starting up on macos? There is a way! This also solves the problem with the licenses, if there is one.

In order to fully fix Waves Central and restore its startup and eliminate the problems with license activation — you need to delete all files and folders where the keyword «waves» (search in finder) in these places:

    1)
    /Library/Application Support/
(Delete here folders «Waves» / «Waves Audio» / «Waves Central», some of them may be folders, if you see them, delete them)

    2)
    /user/Library/Application Support/
(Delete here folders «Waves» / «Waves Audio» / «Waves Central», folders may be some of them if you see them, delete)

    3)
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/
(Delete all files/file with the word «waves»)

    4)
    /user/Library/Preferences/
(Delete all files with the word «waves»)

    5)
    /Applications/
    (delete completely the Waves folder)

    6)
After all manipulations — RESTART the computer, and then download the clean Waves Central in the applications and run. Now everything should go smoothly!

    P.S..
If a folder is not deleting, and you get an error that the files/folder is locked by the system, you need to run a terminal and enter the command:
    «chflags -R nouchg».
After that, hit «space» and DRAG the folder (that won’t get deleted) directly to the terminal window (its address will appear). Here’s how it should look like in terminal window for example:
    «chflags -R nouchg /Applications/Waves».
Next — press enter, enter user password (it won’t show) and press «enter» again. Now any folder will be deleted without any problems.

I have suffered a lot of time before I managed to fix my problem after the system recovery, none of the methods on dozens of websites did not help, so I decided to write a really working method for other users, because before that I have not found an answer to my question :)
    Good luck!

Can not install plugins with Waves Central V11

Waves just released Waves Central V11 as many of you probably know. I upgraded from V10 right away…and that is when shit hit the fan. Waves Central V10 worked 100% and I never had even the slightest issue with the program. But now nothing works in V11 apart from moving licenses between my device and the cloud.

When installing plugins I get the following error: https://i.imgur.com/I4l0GZN.jpg

So I tried repairing the program, but got this error: https://i.imgur.com/ZID7fUO.jpg

I even tried running the «version organizer within Waves Central but I of course got the following error: https://i.imgur.com/nuQSy8t.jpg

My system is a Razer Blade Stealth laptop with an Intel i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and running Windows 10.

I have tried everything suggested by Waves in the following link: https://www.waves.com/support/error-during-product-installation-using-waves-central

I even removed every trace of Waves products from my system before trying a re-install of the program.

I also tried to install a legacy version from here: https://www.waves.com/downloads/v10 , but that comes with V11 of Waves Central (which is really weird) and so netted the same results. There seems to be no way to just download and install V10 of Waves Central which I know works on my system.

I have also contacted their support but it’s been 5 days now and they still have not managed to open the installation log and system report I sent them (I could not attach the zip to my email because Gmail blocked it so I had to use Google Drive but their tech support were unable to open it. So I sent them a Dropbox link but they can´t open that either «due to security reasons»). I am currently waiting for a response from them, which seems to take around 24 hours per reply, no matter how quickly I reply.

So basically I can’t open any of my sessions since they all rely heavily on Waves plugins and I don’t have endless time to wait for Waves support to finally reply to me. All help is much appreciated!
