- 4 Methods to Fix “Vortex Mods Cannot Be Deployed” Issue

Sometimes, Vortex modes cannot be deployed due to certain reasons. If you are using Vortex and encounter the problem unfortunately, you are at the right place. In this article, MiniTool Partition Wizard puts together some solutions to Vortex deployment failed issue.
Vortex is the new, modern mod manager from Nexus Mods. Similar to other mod managers, it allows users to find, download, install, and manage mods easily. It also provides enough control for more experienced veterans of the modding scene.

Fix 2: Delete the JSON File
The JSON (JavaScript Object Notion) file is very important for the proper functioning of Vortex, and you might fail to deploy Vortex if this file is corrupted or runs into certain problems. In this case, you just need to delete the file and make it recreated by your Vortex.
To delete the file, you should:
Step 1: Close the game and Vortex and go to Task Manager to end all the processes related to them.
Step 2: Go to the installation folder of Vortex and open the Data folder to find the file named vortex.deployment.json.
Step 3: Backup the file to another location and them delete it.

ok, I’ve look up a dozen videos and topics on this, none of them helped.
I’ve been told that the problem exists because the mods and the game are in two separate locations, and more or less I have to put them together.
It said to just open skyrim to its file location and create a folder there.
I have tried creating a folder, I’ve tried using the skyrim folder itself, I’ve tried just selecting vaguely, I’ve tried all these and a few others including directly pasting in the url type location of the files themselves, with and without adding \nexusmods just as the guide told me to here
but all I get is this message.
«You cannot put mods into the game directory. This directory is under control of the game (And potentially steam or similar) So your mods might be deleted, moved, or otherwise damaged by foreign software.
Please choose a separate folder for a staging folder, one that no other application uses.»
I figured that was EXACTLY what I was doing… what am I missing?

You need to put the staging folder on the same drive as the game, not into the same directory!
Usually you have one letter per drive, so C: is one drive, D: is one drive, …
If you have your game on d:\steam\…\skyrim
then the staging folder needs to be anywhere on d:
but it shouldn’t be in d:\steam\…\skyrim.
Actually, it shouldn’t be in any directory that contains any other application, just create a new folder, like «d:\vortex staging».

Does it have to be anywhere specific? Or just «On the same drive»?
Because I moved them to the same drive, and my mods still aren’t showing up in game.
You need to put the staging folder on the same drive as the game, not into the same directory!

On the same drive is fine.
Make sure that your mods show as «Enabled» in Vortex.
Your mods WILL NOT appear in game until you successfully «Deploy» them.
Let us know any error messages you get from Vortex.

I finally figured it out, none of my mods apparently are save game compatible
I had to just start a new game and they all showed up. Strange thing is that the previous save file still played vanilla perfectly fine.

I finally figured it out, none of my mods apparently are save game compatible
I had to just start a new game and they all showed up. Strange thing is that the previous save file still played vanilla perfectly fine.
If you’re playing skyrim, then yes, your Mods are Save Game compatible.

I managed to reinstall all my mods but its complicated af. Wished this would have been a smoother transition from nmm to vortex.

I finally figured it out, none of my mods apparently are save game compatible
I had to just start a new game and they all showed up. Strange thing is that the previous save file still played vanilla perfectly fine.
If you’re playing skyrim, then yes, your Mods are Save Game compatible.
I’m not sure where you got that info from?
Then why did it refuse to deploy any of the mods until I made a new game?

Vortex «mods can’t get deployed» problem..please help!
Hey, i keep on getting the message «mods can’t get deployed» when using vortex. Did anyone find a fix for this..? i also tried putting the base path to the game’s original .exe location but still no use. Anyone had this issue or knows how to fix it..?
