Ведь это эксклюзив!, То-есть не на любого потребителя, а ценителя скрытого и не спешного убийства!.
Игра имеет требования таковые, что должна запустится на любой версии ОС., Так-же как и видео-карта (Если не совсем древняя по типу: Ge Force FX 5200 или AMD Radeon-9550 или VIRGE DX., но всё равно при наличии оперативки и приличного процессора, должна!,
Кроме VIRGE DX, подобные видюхи практически не существуют, так-как к примеру поддержка битности всего 24, а видео0игры требуют как минимум 32.
Но уверена, что у вас не такой Антиквариат.,
На NVIDIA она то-же идёт, если не древняя (Как написал человек, что она только под одну)
Так-же много-ядерность не важна!.
Единственное, что я не помню какую директиву она требует!.
Поэтому вероятнее всего игра криво установилась, (Возможен вариант в плохой сборке, битые файлы).,
Есть два, так скажем глюка!, Которые могут влиять (и они присущи этой игре)., Не совсем совместима с некоторыми антивирусами, которые попросту блокируют Экшник игры, и ваши видюхи не полностью поддерживают её.
Такая рекомендация: В отличии от вашей сборки!.
1. Удалить игру!
2. Удалить «Microsoft Visual», предварительно загрузив с офф сайтата, ссылки сейчас нет!.
Версию Гибрид, в ней присутствуют все необходимые версии!.
(Потому-что многие допускают ошибку устанавливая, данную прогу с игрового диска., На данной игре она порой не правильная и даёт глюки).
3. Почистите компьютер перед установкой!.
4. Устанавливаете игру и «Visual»
5. Перезагружаете компьютер.
6. Посмотреть на наличие новых драйверов, (Но не в всегда новое, лучшее)
7. Посмотреть требования игры, к разрешению экрана!.
И для верности можете обновить директиву!.
Есть умельцы которые не делают ничего подобного., А просто ковыряются в реестрах, и исправляют там, всё в ручную!,
После этого она должна у вас запустится!.
PS. Единственное, что может не подходить и не исправить!. Поддержка шейдеров!.

ATI cards can not do physics.
EDIT: nvm, thought you were trying to use physics in game.

While that is true, physics aren’t needed to play the game. And the requirements clearly state that ATI cards can be used.

He only needs the software and «no acceleration» will be selected in physx properties. The SDK is needed to run the game. 3Dmark vantage also needs physx to run, even on ATI cards.

So if he downloaded the driver, where would he change the setting for «no acceleration»? And why doesn’t ATI provide this?

He won’t have to change anything just install it. ATI doesn’t provide it because it’s Nvidia software.

Wow these posts are old.. Anyways.. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem..
I got it working with the Nvidia soft and the game loaded which is cool but when I try to start a new game it doesn’t work. I can only use the arrows and thats it.
I started the game with the launcher and replay as well.. I did copy the replay.exe file
But still it doesn’t work.. Can any of u guyz help with this..

i cant make it work,i have windows 7& 64,it says nothing,i have a window with,
«reset back next cancel» cancel and restart is the only cliclable,please help

I’ve been trying to run Velvet Assassin but every time I click play, this error pops up:
.nxPskMainNx.cpp[51]:error:Assertment failed
message:Failed to init Ageia physics SDKI have downloaded all the recent Physx software, even Physx SDK 2.8.1 but to no avail.
O/S winxp pro
191.07 drivers
285GTXI have no problems with other rig: Vista 64, 4870×2 (very odd!)

Success!!! I completely removed all display drivers (Physx etc.), ran two driver cleaner programs to uninstall physx, removed the gpu then reinstalled everything using 191.07 drivers.
Now all the programs that were showing errors are up and running:-D

In recent versions of PhysX Nvidia changed architecture, removed a lot of old engine versions, moved files from Ageia to Nvidia folder, so this causes issues in many old Physx powered games (mostly 2005-2009 years).
This site Physxinfo.com explains the difference between new and old architecture if you want to get why this happens and how physX driversapi libraries works.
Latest version that had old engines included was this Nvidia.com
its still considered latest official, newer versions comes with beta drivers and it seems like old engines was removed to reduce driver size.
So instead of just replacing newer version of physX by older, i managed to fix problem smarter:
1) Uninstall currently installed PhysX if its version anything above 9.12.0613 (at the date of this post 9.12.1031 is latest version wtih reduced number of engine libraries)
2) Download PhysX 9.12.0613 Nvidia.com
3) Install it.
4) Go to
%ProgramFiles%AGEIA Technologies
or
%ProgramFiles%NVIDIA CorporationPhysXEngine
copy all folder somewhere safe for while.
4) Uninstall PhysX 9.12.0613
5) Now take your saved folders with vX.X.X engines and put the exactly where you get them from (if folder deleted, create one or few with same names and hierarchy)
%ProgramFiles%NVIDIA CorporationPhysXEngine
6) No install your latest version of physX (9.12.1031 at the moment)it will not remove folders that not included in installer.
7) Enjoy old games (including Velvet Assassin) and recent PhysX fixes for newer games.
P.S. — if you are familiar with MSI editing tools, you can add missing engine folders to it directly.

Okay I browsed through the discussions a bit more and found this — worked like a charm:
In the last PhysX driver NVidia deleted some of the old version libraries.
To avoid problem no need to overwrite new drivers or install/reinstall them.
All we need is place this folder (from version 9.12.0613)

this is files needed by VelvetAssasin, but there are more deleted folders.

Steam forums for the game have a link to download page for the old drivers, now labelled legacy drivers. Those worked for me.

You need the PhysX Legacy package from NVidia. You can get it here:

(Velvet Assassin is explicitly listed on that page, at the bottom.)
It coexists with the modern driver and has no ill effects on modern games. It is a separate driver that is only used by old games. You do NOT need to uninstall the current PhysX software (if you have it installed.)

under «patch» I thought PhysX legacy driver…I ordered a new hdd to do a new OS and other programs
reinstall on my existing SSD and see whether it will be a problem again. I have now deleted all of the programs that I doubted that are in conflict and problem still exists…
