Tried printing out of printing area ошибка

Over the last few weeks I was getting this error occasionally and even worse — every few minutes of printing the print head would move to the edge of the print and then come back to the print and continue.

I tried many things — changing SD cards (no difference) cleaning the SD card.  Swapping ribbon cables.  Finally I cleaned out the SD card reader inside the printer and that fixed it instantly.  While cleaning I noticed a large hair about 2cm long inside there.  But I also used a wooden toothpick dipped in alcohol to clean each of the 10 or so contacts.  One at a time.  Carefully.

I think I probably could have done it without taking it apart so next time I will try that.  Blowing hard in the slot probably would have fixed the problem.  But if you do take it apart there is one tricky step.  So do the tricky part first.  First remove the white knob (not the transparent cylinder that the knob goes in). { edit — push the knob out from behind as shown in Erin’s post below }   Once it is out you will see a metal nut.  Remove that nut!  That’s the tricky part.  Everything else was pretty obvious.  If you really want detailed directions you can get them here in this pdf with pictures:

Доброго дня всем.

С недавних пор являюсь, относительно счастливым обладателем Sanjiuprinter Z360, клона Ultimaker 2, но с двумя экструдерами.

Относительно счастливый по причинам некоторых косяков и недоделок китайских товарищей….

В целом все проблемы пройдены, что касалось механики. Но на рисовалась проблема-при печати все чаще и чаще выскакивает ошибка: Tried printing out of printing area.

Application Version
Cura 3.3.1

Platform
Mac OS 10.13.4

Printer
Ultimaker 2+
STL file 3v3v1_clay_stamp_4.stl.zip
3v3v1_clay_stamp_4.stl.zip
included.

Steps to Reproduce
Open Cura 3.3.1, slice the STL file, then try to print the produced gcode file on an Ultimaker 2+. This yields the error message “tried printing out of printing area” even when the object is only a few cm in size.

This time open Cura 3.2.1, slice the STL file, then print the gcode file without problem on the same Ultimaker 2+.

Actual Results
Error message appears on printer after giving it the gcode file made by Cura 3.3.1, and job does not print. The Cura 3.2.1 gcode file prints fine.

Expected results
I would expect both versions to print fine.

SlicerPE: Printing out of area. Should I get a warning?

Should SlicerPE give me a warning when I’m printing out of bounds, or is there a way to check before I send a job to the printer?

I just got my MK3 and put it together Friday and I’m trying to figure out this software stack.

I threw a SpannerHands spool base into SlicerPE and figured I could just hit «Send to printer» and it didn’t give me any errors. 11 hours later, it stopped when it tried to print out of area.

Should I be getting a warning in the slicer software, or is there any way to check the print area before printing?

I’ve got an MK3, Slic3rPE has the printer set as Original Prusa i3 MK3, and OctoPrint has my printer profile manually configured (250x210x210, with -5mm min on the Y custom bounding box).

Here are a few pictures:

  • It printed flawlessly until it got to the front of the print bed, and it looks like it just blobbed up a bunch of filament at the front.

    • Edge-on view showing front edge of print area

    • Clearer view of the front edge «bunching up» — it should be continuing to angle forward, not turning up in a sharp vertical edge.

  • Here’s what Slic3rPE shows. It’s clearly too long in the Y dimension, but I didn’t think to visually check.

I’m curious if there’s an way for the tool to tell me when I’m out-of-bounds, because I may not notice it on a visual inspection if it’s just a couple of layers out (unlike this obvious mistake).

I’m pretty sure I can just rotate this object 90 degrees and print the long end on the X-axis, but I figured I’d reach out and ask if there’s something wrong with my process, since this is all new to me.

Also, am I doing something wrong here: Slic3r let me select the MK3 as my printer, so I’m assuming it used sane settings, but OctoPrint required me to manually input the printer dimensions. I went with 250(X)x210(Y)x210(Z), and then -5mm on the Y-axis min in the Custom Bounding Box area so it can print the starter line. For Axes speeds, I went with 6000, 6000, 200, 300. I based these settings on a forum post that I ran across, so they may not be exactly right.

Any help would be appreciated. This is only my third print, so I’m expecting many failures in the future :P

Printing problem

I have drawing which includes 11 sheets in same model space. There are also total of 18 of these files and thats also the reason I’m creating these printing abilities. I’m planning on using the template of this first drawing for the rest of the drawings. I created layout windows for each of the sheets. In layout window I deleted the original viewport. Then created new viewport with MVIEW -> FIT command which should fit the viewport to printable area. After that I zoomed sheet windows to these viewports. Then created page setup where I fitted the outlines of each sheet to viewport. Published it as pdf. Everything went well to this point. PDF looks good and everything but this pdf cant be printed. Printer claims that the area im trying to print is out of printing area. Tried Acrobat Reader and PDF-XChange both with fit on and off. I cant understand what went wrong because the viewport area was originally fitted to printing area with autocads very own function mview -> fit. Any ideas? Smiley Frustrated

Which «printer» is reporting «… print is out of printing area…» exactly?
What are your print settings in your PDF reader? Show us, post the screenshot of that pop-up.
Why not post this PDF with this problem too, let’s have a look at the final file (thanks for posting the DWG files too).

I have created page setup to print these layouts. I will attach the .dwg files again since I have tried to solve this meanwhile and created new page setup which is «Setup1». Took many screenshots and zipped them in pics.zip. Now also the pdf attached.

There is something definitely wrong with the PDF: I used PUBLISH command set to DWG to PDF in your file with all of your layouts (some are blank of course) and the resulting PDF (see attached) prints just fine.

I managed to limit the problem to pdf file. Using setup 1 I can print the pdf just fine when there only the first layout is batch plotted. After I add second page to batch plot the pdf, it cant be printed anymore since the previously mentioned error message occurs. This file is converted from .dgn by autocad and there are text blocks which are streched out from the frame im trying to print. I think I’m streching them back to frame and try printing again. For example one in the down right corner of each frame.

Ok. So the file can be printed with PDF-XChange Viewer.

I am pretty sure that the problem lies here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-…

There are just some elements that Adobe Reader cant render correctly. I’m not going to waste any more time for to look the exact item that causes the problem since the printing can be done with another PDF viewer.

I also looked the PDF you printed and it looks that the PDF didnt include the reference .dwg.

If you come up with any other solutions than rendering problem with adobe, please let me know and thanks for help anyway Smiley Happy

I only downloaded the one file for my test. Your ‘default» file kept crashing my system for some reason.

Your top file reports 44-errors and is littered with DGN object types (I think we’ve discussed this before): here is another PDF from PUBLISH, still no issues even with the titleblock (and your many empty layouts). I’m still not seeing any issues at all.

Hello @MrMuscl3,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I ran through some general file clean up steps on the file you provided. I then ran a few prints both PDF and to our in office printer.

I wasn’t able to recreate the same issue. Have you tried the suggestions made by pendean

Thanks, Happy Posting

I managed to print the file out with external reference attached (the one which pendean told caused the errors). Printing could not be done with Acrobat Reader so I used PDF XChange-Viewer. Somehow Acrobat Reader was not able to this job on my computer. I tried many different printing settings with it (fit page, shrink oversized paged etc.). So, should I accept this post now as a solution? Smiley Happy

AutoCAD LT is definetily not best tool for .dgn to .dwg conversion. Or the file I tried to convert was somehow damaged or old .dgn version.

Just a thought, if you’re using AutoCAD LT 2014 and by chance updated Adobe acrobat to the newest update/release it may have caused some issues.

I tested your file in AutoCAD LT 2016 and 2017 with no issues (after running a recover and a few file clean up commands).

But if Deans post helped you resolve your issue or find a suitable workaround please do use the Accept as Solution button or give Kudos as you see fit.

Pendean recently reported that my file included errors and so did you. You also told that you ran «recover» and «few clean up commands». How is this done?

Do I need AutoCAD version with more functions to even notice these errors you have talked about? My AutoCAD did not report anything.

And are these recovers and clean ups possible to do with AutoCAD LT 2014? If its is, how its done?

AUDIT will fix any errors for you

PURGE  will delete unused items in the drawing file

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face: But how can I be aware of any errors since two people already told me that my .dwg had errors and I didnt have the slightest clue about it?

You can’t automatically be aware that any errors have appeared in your drawing.

However if you have a problem with a drawing. The Audit command will usually tell you if there are any errors in it

The file clean-up command’s I normally run through myself and suggest are the following;

  • Run RECOVERALL, at the command line and select drawing, save drawing and close.
  • Run RECOVER, at the command line and select drawing.
  • (-)PURGE > Regapps > Enter>No
  • (-)PURGE>ALL> Enter>No
  • AUDIT> Yes
  • PURGE > Select Purge nested items> Select Automatically purge orphaned data > Purge All
  • (-)SCALESEDIT
  • CTRL+A > OVERKILL (Warning: use this command with caution, running the command modifies your geometry by deleting objects you may need. Save a copy of the original file in case of any unwanted changes. )
  • Close and Save newly purged file (ex. CLEANED_file)
  • Apply workflow.

You can also reference this AKN article:  How to repair corrupt AutoCAD files

As hwalker mentioned the Audit command will let you know what errors show up. I normally us F2 when running the commands above and Audit so I have a bigger window to read the errors if that helps in anyway.
