Check Network Status and Windows Components

Before we start tweaking your computer’s settings, it is important that you make sure that your network is properly connected to the internet and there are no issues of connectivity. Furthermore, you should also make sure that components like Windows update are working properly. Here is a short checklist for you:

  • Try connecting to the internet from your computer’s browser. Make sure that every website is accessible and you are not using proxy servers.
  • If you have two GPU’s, make sure that you have the correct one selected.
  • Make sure that your Windows is updated to the latest version available.
  • All of your drivers should also be updated.
  • Avoid usage of VPNs when playing the game. They sometimes block the connection between the client and the host.
  • Power cycle your computer completely i.e. take out the power cord and hold the power button for a couple of seconds. Then wait a few minutes before plugging everything back in.
  • Restart your router. Sometimes error configurations of the router may be responsible for your game not connecting since the network is not being broadcasted correctly. Restarting the router reinitializes everything.

Add Firewall Exception

  1. Press Windows + S, type Firewall in the dialogue box and open the application.
  2. Click on Firewall & network protection from the left side and click Allow an app through firewall.
  3. Click on Change and then check both Private and Public network access for State of Decay 2.
  4. Save all your changes and exit. Restart your computer properly and check if the error message is resolved.

If this doesn’t work, then we can try blocking inbound traffic and allow outbound. Open your command prompt as an administrator and execute the following line:

Error 1005, any solutions?

Hi all, I’ve been trying to join my wifes session or even host one, so far it says session failed when I’m in my community trying to host a game, when joining a game it says «The multiplayer Service could not be reached, error code 1005» Microsoft has been completely useless since their go to is automated replies and «have you tried restarting?»

THIS IS THROUGH XBOX BETAS JUGGERNAUGHT EDITION

— Multiplayer is ticked in settings

— We are both on PC, using the xbox beta with an XBOX pass, and yes the pass is current.

— There is no torendo or w/e its called in my network drivers and its impossible to add

— I’ve reinstalled the game 3 times, reinstalled xbox beta 3 times

— I’ve messed around with keyreg and powershell, none of this worked

— I’ve disabled hamachi, tinkered with firewalls, no luck

— I’ve reset my routers, to no luck.

— I’m not able to join a session through volunteering either.

And yes, Every single other online game on my computer works fine, so I highly doubt its an ISP issue.

I’ve spent more time diagnosing and repairing issues with xbox beta as a whole than I have actually playing their games, you’d think a platform with millions of dollars behind it would be more stable and less buggy. Even steam in its earlier days was more dependable. $9.99 for a pass that lets us play on any of the big triple AAA titles is a great deal but this seriously contradicts everything.
