I am trying to use the Copy Database Wizard in SQL Server 2012
The host is running SQL Server 2000 (8.00.2066 (SP4)) on a Windows 2003 server
The destination is SQL Server 2012 running on Windows Server 2012 Standard.
Its gets to Execute SQL Server Agent Job and fails with this error:
The job failed. Check the event log on the destination server for details
Fails at – Execute SQL Server Agent Job
I’ve looked at the application log and not sure which errors are relevant. Here are two of them:
the first is an error, the second a warning.

The job is running as NT Service\SQLSERVERAGENT, so if you’re using Windows Integrated Security, you need to ensure that the machine account (YourDomain\YourServerName$) has appropriate access to the both SQL Servers.
>I will also look into backup/restore. Will that work between 2000 and 2012?
You’ll need to do an intermediate restore to a SQL 2005, SQL 2008, or SQL 2008 R2 instance, as 2000 -> 2012 is not a direct upgrade.

Using SQL Server (all versions supported) SSIS Integration Runtime in Azure Data Factory
The Integration Services Package logs various event messages in the Windows Application Event Log as needed. The platform records them when there are messages in the batch, when the batch stops and when there are collection problems.
This section provides information about the general event messages that the package logs in the application event log. As a workaround, the package records some of these comments even if you haven’t enabled package editing. However, there are a few messages that the package logs constantly if you included my package. Whether the package writes these messages by default or because drag and drop was enabled, the event source for the messages is SQLISPackage.
For general information on running SSIS packages, see Running Project Packages and.
For more information on troubleshooting package launch issues, see Package launch troubleshooting tools .
Notifications About The Status Attached To The Package
When you run an Integration Services package, the package typically logs various campaigns of progress and status messages for a particular package. The following table lists all of these messages.
event name | text | Notes | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
12288 | DTS_MSG_PACKAGESTART | Package ID

12289 | DTS_MSG_PACKAGESUCCES | Package completed successfully. | The tutorial completed successfully and no longer works. | |
12290 | DTS_MSG_PACKAGECANCEL | Package “% 1! s!” was cancelled. | The package is definitely not running anymore because the package has completed. | |

Integration Services are not configured by default during hot install – Reg Check some of the package execution events in the application event log. This parameter prevents too few event log entries when using the data collector function of the current model of SQL Server Integration Services. Events that cannot be logged are EventID 12288, Started, “Package” and EventID 12289, “Package Processed Successfully”. To log these events to the application event log, open the registry to edit it. Then find our SQL Server 110 SSIS in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Microsoft and change the DWORD value of the LogPackageExecutionToEventLog parameter from to 1. However, in one installation, Develop Integration Services is configured so that each of them connects to these two events. with logging disabled, change the value of the LogPackageExecutionToEventLog parameter from 1 to 0.
Messages Related To Package Registration
If you have enabled logging for a package, the application event log is one of the destinations supported by the logging functionality available in the service integration packs. For more information, see Services In Loggingtegration Services (SSIS) .
If you have enabled agreement logging and its location is the application event log, the package logs entries that unfortunately refer to the following information:

This procedure describes how to start a transaction and view the generated log entries. You can view the log entries that appear in real time. The log entries that are actually written to the log events window aresometimes it can also be copied and saved for later analysis.
It is not necessary to write primary log entries to the log in order to write entries to the log event window.
Show Log Entries
-
In SQL Server Data Tools, open an Integration Services project whose main package contains the one you want.
-
In the SSIS Navigation Pane, click Event Log. Optionally, you can show how one of our View.LogEvents commands maps the Event Log window to a keyboard shortcut that includes your selection on the Keyboard page of the Options dialog box.
-
Click Start Debugging in the Debug area.
When the runtime detects all custom events and messages with logging enabled, log entries for each seminar or message are written to Lo. writing

Troubleshooting error messages can be a little tricky, especially if you’re new to the task. Here’s a good example of a job that failed without a whole lot of information as to why it failed. This was taken from the Windows Event Log/Application Log:
Log Name: Application
Source: SQLISPackage
Date: 7/12/2014 10:45:45 PM
Event ID: 12291
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User:
Computer:
Description: Package “Dynamics DB Integrity Check” failed.
Step 1: this error message is pointing to a job (Application/SQLISPackage) called Dynamics DB Integrity Check.Subplan, so it’s logical to start with the SQL Server Management Studio scheduled jobs. Sure enough, there’s a scheduled job with the same name in the job list, and it’s an active job.
(The jobs with the tiny red downward-pointing arrows as part of the icon have been disabled.)
Step 2: open up the job history for the job and see if there’s any additional information:
As it turns out, there isn’t, not in the main entry for the job history description or in the subplan step.
The clues are in the error message Source (SQLISPackage) and Description that starts with “Package …”. The job name is a clue, also – the two-part name usually indicates that this job was created by a Maintenance Plan.
Step 3: Confirm these suspicions by opening the job itself and viewing the content (you’ll have to Edit in order to see the internal configuration of the job, but don’t make any changes – and always cancel out when you’re done, never save *).
Maintenance Plans are SQL Server Integration Services packages. When you save a package that you’ve just created, it creates and enables scheduled jobs which run the various tasks that comprise the maintenance package.
Step 4: go to the Maintenance Plans and check the plan named in the job step…but look! There IS NO MAINTENANCE PLAN!
If there were maintenance plans for this SQL Server they would be listed under Legacy>Database Maintenance Plans (this is a SQL 2005 server). Obviously, there are none. Also obviously, at one time there was a maintenance plan.
Reason for the Error Message: the scheduled job is calling a non-existent maintenance plan.
Lesson Learned: when a Maintenance Plan is deleted from a SQL Server, the scheduled jobs that ran the pieces of the Plan are not also deleted. You have to remove (or disable) them separately.
Step 5: remove or disable the scheduled job. For the sake of caution, we’re going to disable the job. Highlight the job name, R-click, choose “Disable”. The result looks like this:
And those are the steps to troubleshooting an error message about a job failing to run.
* Save v. cancel: when investigating settings or parameters for live jobs or other database properties, it’s always safest to cancel out rather than save when you’re done observing. A “save” could cause changes if you inadvertently modify something in the settings, whereas a “cancel” will simply leave the settings as they were. “Save” when you intend to make changes; “cancel” when you don’t.
This guide will help you if you notice event ID 12291.

Суть скрипта в том, что он считывает и обрабатывает данные из вьюшек vwFEP_Uploader_ResultXmls и vwFEP_Uploader_LastUploadedResultsXmls

I have an SSIS package that runs just fine. However, when I schedule it as a job, it fails with this in the Event Viewer:
Source: SQLISPackage
Event ID: 12291
Description: Package «<package name>» failed.
I have many other SSIS packages scheduled on the same server using the same security. What can be wrong, or where can I look to find out what the problem is?

Got it! UNC versus mapped drives!
The manual process uses my credentials, which has a mapped drive reference. The job uses the SQL Server Agent account, which does not. I just found out that the programmer is using the mapped drive.

Hello, I am not a SQL guru but have been tasked with getting our SQL server backed up. I am using a Barracuda appliance which seems to be working.
My issue is I have to have a maintenance plan to truncate the logs as Barracuda does a VSS backup and doesn’t do that for me.
I created a plan
Shrink Database
Reorganize Index
Rebuild Index
Update Statistics
Maintenance Cleanup Task
This task runs before the Barracuda backup. However it keeps erroring out and it increases the size of the log file by quite a bit after it runs.
I get the 12291 error followed by a Warning from SQLSERVERAGENT code 208 SQL Server Scheduled Job ‘Truncate Logs.Subplan_1’ (0xC44F9B7DFAC4C74D89B6D5B1AD4F468D) — Status: Failed — Invoked on: 2018-05-17 21:09:57 — Message: The job failed. The
Job was invoked by User sa. The last step to run was step 1 (Subplan_1).Any ideas on where I might of went wrong?

Hi,
Go to SQL Server Surface Area configurationf rom SQL Server 2005 program
groups:-1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005,
point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server
Surface Area Configuration.
2. On the SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration page, click Surface
Area Configuration for Services and Connections.
3. On the Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections page,
expand Database Engine, click Remote Connections, click
Local and remote connections, click the appropriate protocol to enable
for your environment, and then click Apply.Stop and Start the SQL Server service.
If you are running SQL Server 2005 by using an instance name and you are not
using a specific TCP/IP port number in your connection string, you must
enable
the SQL Server Browser service to allow for remote connectionsAfter doing this changes try again
Thanks

That’s kind of strange error since the job always have been running
on the destination server everytime I’ve tried it. And it can’t run
on the source server anyway, since the source is SQL 2000.So why would Integration Services not be able to connect locally? Hm,
exactly how did you specify the target server? And from which machine did you initiate the copy? From the destination
server? Or a third machine? And which method did you pick? SMO Method or attach/detach?
(I did just try SMO — it failed with an exception «the DefaultSchema
property is not available on SQL 2000″ — it reinforces my opinion
that the CDW is still an early beta.)By the way, always make it a habit to send the CDW log to text file.
-
I did some research on that. Apparently there was something spooky with
the database I tried. (One of my several junk databases for various
funny tests.) I tried to reproduce it by starting from scratch, but I did
not succeed. I did not dig too deep into it, though. -
