Here’s how to step by step:
1 ) Open your NVIDIA Control Panel(By right clicking on the desktop and selecting the «NVIDIA Control Panel»)
2 ) On the 3D Settings List, Chose «Manage 3D Settings»
3 ) On the «Program Settings» tab, add the SonicGenerations.exe and ConfigurationTool.exe in your installation folder, then force both of them to use the High Performance NVIDIA processor. (Don’t forget to apply the changes)
4 ) Open your «Screen Resolution» window (By right clicking on the desktop and selecting «Screen Resolution»).
5 ) Click Detect
6 ) It should display additional monitors greyed out and saying «Another display not detected». Find the one that is not Intel Integrated Graphics but your High Performance NVIDIA Graphics (Whichever it is) and select it.
7 ) On the «Multiple displays», chose «Try to connect anyway on: VGA» (it can be another slot depending on your hardware).
8 ) Apply.
9 ) Again on the «Multiple dislpays», chose «Extend these displays».
10 ) Run the ConfigurationTool.exe, it should show your NVIDIA graphics card as a graphics adapter.
11 ) Select your main display which is Intel Integrated Graphics. (Do NOT select your NVIDIA card!!! Because it is not associated with a monitor.)
12 ) Run the game normally. It should work fine now.

Ну, это все что угодно может быть. Если высвечивается ошибка что-то вроде — «The detected configuration does not match your current hardware. Please re-run the configurations tool». То запустите ConfigurationTool от имени администратора. Другова не знаю, жду подробного описания от вас. з.ы. создавайте вопрос через систему – задать вопрос. На главной странице раздела с игрой есть кнопочка. |

Что бы решить эту проблему нужно запустить configurations tool от имени администрации, но как вы уже писали, это не помогает. Еще советуют переустановить игру. У вас видео карта от NVIDIA? |

Эта проблема с картами от NVIDIA, вроде была решена с одним из патчей в Steam (попробуйте поставить последний патч и обновить драва на карту). К сожалению мне мало что известно по этому поводу. И сможешь ли что-то вообще помочь вам (ибо не сталкивался).

However, it’s worth pointing out that the game may give people a hard time on occasions. For instance, those that play the Windows version of Sonic Generations sometimes come across an error about “configuration does not match”. Read to the end if you don’t know what must be done once it comes to Sonic Generations “configuration does not match”.

HDMI Connection To TV
Nowadays, many people connect their computers to their TV via HDMI cables to take advantage of the resolution, size, … as they play games. However, while the setup works well in most of the cases, errors may pop up out of the blue. Hence, regarding Sonic Generations “configuration does not match”, you should give HDMI connection some thought if you use TV to play the game. (Valium) On the bright side, if the HDMI connection is responsible, there is no need to do much.
Configuration File
As the name suggests, the configuration file stores information about your setup and launches the game accordingly. If the file performs as expected, you should have no trouble playing the game to your heart’s content. On the other hand, if the file experiences issues, “configuration does not match” is the consequence.

In case you don’t know, computers cannot directly manage graphics cards and have to rely on graphics card drivers. Needless to say, the drivers of graphics cards influence quite a few aspects of gaming. You keep running into the “configuration does not match” error while launching Sonic Generations? In that case, you may want to take graphics card driver into account.

Reconfigure The Game After The HDMI Connection
If the “configuration does not match” error only surfaces when you play using TV, reconfigure the game soon after connecting your PC to your TV. Match the game settings to the TV’s visual settings then see how things turn out. If you’ve already done so and the error persists, cycle through the available resolution settings till you find one that works perfectly. Over time, other resolutions should become available as well.
Delete The Config File
- Step 1: Launch Steam and log in to your account.
- Step 2: Click Library and navigate to Sonic Generations.
- Step 3: Right-click it and select Properties from the options available.
- Step 4: Click the Local Files tab and select Browse Local Files.
- Step 5: Go to Search, type in Config, and run the search.
- Step 6: Delete the GraphicsConfig.cfg file. You may actually want to delete all config files you find to be on the safe side. The config files usually have the “.cfg” extension.
- Step 7: Rerun the config tool.
Note: if you constantly switch between PC monitor and TV to play Sonic Generations, you likely need to repeat the process every time. Also, if you don’t want to use the config tool, relaunch your Sonic Generations game after deleting the config files. The game should ask you to reset your configurations so you can do it from there.
Update Graphics Card Driver
- Step 1: Go to Search bar, type Device Manager and hit Enter.
- Step 2: Expand Display Adapters.
- Step 3: Locate your graphics card. right-click it and pick Update Driver.
- Step 4: Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Step 5: The moment the update completes, restart your computer.
Fix Using Demo Game
- Step 1: Uninstall and reinstall Sonic Generations.
- Step 2: Download the Sonic Generations demo then run it once to make sure that it’s working.
- Step 3: Copy all the files of the demo.
- Step 4 Launch Steam and log in to your account.
- Step 5: Select Library and navigate to your Sonic Generations game. Right-click it and select Properties.
- Step 6: Click the Local Files tab and select Browse Local Files.
- Step 7: Right-click any area in this folder and select Paste. Choose “Let me choose which files…”.
- Step 8: Replace everything except for the main game’s executable file and the cpk files.
Tips And Tricks
- Stick to Classic Sonic if you want to gather rings. Compared to other Sonic versions, Classic Sonic is able to pick up more rings while requiring less attention.
- One way to mess up a Boss’ aim as it’s about to attack is to switch Sonics. The attacks would miss their mark every time.
- Be careful if you aim for S ranks. The number of “lives” you have is way more important than your speed. Furthermore, if possible, don’t go after the S rank and collect red coins in the same run. Red coin routes tend to be dangerous which means going for them while aiming for S rank may result in less than ideal outcomes.

It used to be possible to run Sonic Generations in Windowed Mode, but this no longer works:
On newer DxWnd Versions the game refuses to run:
Error «The detected configuration does not match your current hardware. Please re-run the configuration tool.»
Yes, that error usually happens due to graphics settings and there have been issues in the past with people getting the game to run (in general though you just need to rerun the configuration tool and save & configure everything), but this error only happens when Generations is ran from DxWnd, so it’s not the usual error.
This was mentioned recently here, so I wonder if this change has anything to do with it.

You can still find some videos and guides that mention configuring DxWnd for Sonic Generations, pcgamingwiki also mentions how it no longer works with new Versions of DxWnd:

That’s bad. I fear I never tested it personally, so I don’t know what went wrong, but I’ll try to find out
Running Version 2.04.00 (2.04.99 gives the above mentioned error) and older ….
The leap between 2.04.00 and 2.04.99 is quite a big one! Perhaps you meant 2.05.00 instead? If we can tell when exactly the problem occurred, it will be much easier for me to guess the reason. BTW one reason that broke compatibility for many games was a change in video resolutions handling. You may try to set the «Video / Screen resolution» switch from the default «SVGA» to «Native», maybe it could fix the problem.
In case this suggestion won’t help, may I ask you to run a game session with logs enabled and post here the dxwnd.log file? Detailed instructions are in the Help tutorial.-

I did mean 2.04.00 and 2.04.99 as I did test those as the latest version didn’t work.
Did think that finding the versions that broke it would help.
Unfortunately I can’t get the game to run in windowed anymore at all, even using really old versions (the ones that still listed all game profiles) so I don’t know what’s really going on now.
(I do wonder if me using different versions of DxWnd without restarting caused issues though, I did read on how that needs a complete OS restart in order to work properly)I’ll try to see if the Native Setting can help in getting it to run with the latest versions (and if that doesn’t work, checking out the logging)
Not sure if that’s really useful, but the game does have a Demo on Steam (it’s about 4GB though) so if anyone else wants to give it a go and doesn’t own the game, then there’s that.

Well, maybe I can give a few hints:
Using different versions of DxWnd without restarting CAN cause issues whenever you mix versions that have a different memory structure. Fortunately this change happened not very often, and if it happens the quickest way to fix the problem seems to be a log-out / log-in of the user session, much faster than rebooting.
If you can get two versions that have different behavior (one wors, the other doesn’t), you can quickly find where the compatibility broke by testing a version in the middle, taking note of what happens and continue this way, always having two different behaviors. This is an example of a possible search:
2.04.00 works, 2.04.99 doesn’t, then try 2.04.50
2.04.50 works, then try 2.04.75
2.04.75 doesn’t work, than try 2.04.62
2.04.62 work, then try 2.04.68
and so on, until you find the first version that stops working.But if you can’t get the game running also with very old versions of DxWnd, there’s a real possibility that something broke in your system configuration. Taking some logs is the only way to know for sure.
