NEMESIS ERROR 6006
PC SSE — Help
Hey guys I’m new to modding, and PC in general so this may be an easy fix. Every time I launch nemesis I get ERROR (6006): Missing latest engine files. Update engine to fix it.
When I then try to update engine Nemesis then crashes. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Nemesis error 6002: Potential fixes
Now that we have understood the potential causes of the Nemesis error 6002, it is time to head to the fixes. Below, we have complied a list of potential fixes that can help you to resolve the error quickly.
Run the Nemesis Engine in compatibility mode
One of the first fixes that you can try is runnin the Nemesis Engine in compatibility mode. Here’s how to do that:
- Right-click on the Nemesis Engine executable file (nemesis.exe) and select Properties.
- Navigate to the Compatibility tab.
- Check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for

Try running the Nemesis Engine again to see if it works this time. It is important to note that while many gamers swear by this fix, it is still not a guaranteed solution.
Disable Windows Defender

You can add an exclusion to Windows Security. Here’s how to do that:

Step 2: Select Add an exclusion and then enter the name of the file that you want to exclude which is Nemesis Unlimited Behaviour Engine.exe.
Other solutions
While the above two solutions have worked for a majority of users, there are some other possible fixes that you can try if the above solutions didn’t work:
- Try opening Nemesis through SteamLibrary insted of Vortex Mods.
- Ensure that you have downloaded and installed Nemesis correctly.
- Don’t check the last box of your mod order.
- If the latest version of Nemsis is causing problems, try the older versions.
- Try reinstallin the Nemesis.
- Sometimes, repeatedly pressing the compile button can work wonders.
- Make sure that the FNIS is either disabled or uninstalled.

are you running Nemesis as admin? is this error consistent 100% all the time?
Ran into the same problem. I also ran the engine in admin mode and nothing changes. However, this occurs when I ran it from MO2. When I ran it outside of MO2 with no mods, the patching works. Here’s my logs:

Sorry for the late comment was out of town. I can run it as admin but it will not have any of my mods so it will work fine. it seems to only happen from running it as a executable in mo2. I have to redo my mods anyway so if it comes up again after ill post again.

No no, different issue. The message is obviously different

I have received reports latest version of MO2 is causing some issues. My testers have confirmed to me that reverting back to older version fixes their issue. I’m not sure if its related but do give that a try as well
Got the same problem, first time using Nemesis and it’s not going too great lmao.

Not sure what to do here. I can’t run it in admin from MO, and running it manually mean there will be no mods to tick.
Edit: Found the problem. I manually installed Nemesis by dragging and dropping into my data folder, and then tried to open it using MO’s functionality. You have to commit one way or the other. If your game is managed by MO, use MO to manage Nemesis as well as using it to launch it. Might fix any issues for those who are having the same problem.

Same issue.. it seems random it varies between error 6002 and 6001
The problem I had with mine was my anti virus, I had to turn off my real time protection and then it worked I don’t know if the same would work for any of you.

Thanks, bluesquares01. That actually worked, but it’s far from ideal that we need to turn off our antivirus to get Nemesis to run properly.
If disabling the Antivirus is too extreme, you can exclude the folder Nemesis runs at from the real time protection. Doing so for Windows Defender solved my problem. You can follow Microsoft’s guide to replicate said exclusion

Friend, it really worked thank you)
@Dcaster10
As far as I know, ...AppData...
is a Windows protected directory (just like ...ProgramFiles...
), which is known to cause issues with mods. I’d highly advised against installing Skyrim on system protected folders, because unexpected stuff happens (and your case might be an example).
Recently tried to update a mod list with TUDM and when I run I get a few variations on the same error message.

Just ticked NEMISIS PCEU after disabling it and I don’t get this error message hope this helps.
I had the problem and turned off real-time protection and it worked.
IDK why but a comment previously posted also works, without disabling my antivirus nor adding folder exceptions (idk how in windows 11). I turned the compatibility mode in the executable for nemesis to «windows 7» and now It Just Works™
I also had this problem, setting Nemesis to run in ‘Windows 7″ compatibility mode worked for me.
Can also confirm running this as Windows 8 Compatibility worked for me to solve this issue. Currently on Windows 10 build 21H2 managing and running through MO2 v2.4.4.
ok, I feel I should note that it did fix it for me however you should never turn off real-time protection globally, instead you should add an exclusion.

I only have this happen when I have my VPN on. I turned it off and problem went away.

Skyrim — SLMP-SSE 1.7.
Nemesis
