There are many errors that can occur when you try to use Microsoft Outlook. One of the most common errors is Microsoft Outlook Error Code 0x8004DF0A. This error occurs when you try to use the application or when you try to access your account information in the application. This error can be annoying and frustrating because you cannot access the application properly.

The problem can be caused by a server error or a network error or it can be caused by an issue with your computer or your internet connection. You might also encounter this error if other applications are interfering with the proper functioning of Microsoft Outlook on your computer or if you have malware installed on your computer. To fix this error, you need to try a few solutions.

First, you can use the Inbox Repair tool to fix this error. This tool is used to fix errors that occur in Microsoft Outlook. You can use this tool if you encounter the error on your computer or on another computer that you are using.

Close the application and go to the following directory:

Outlook 2019: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficerootOffice16

Outlook 2016: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficerootOffice16

Outlook 2013: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeOffice15

Outlook 2010: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeOffice14

Outlook 2007: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeOffice12

Next, open SCANPST.EXE. After this, find the Outlook Data File (.pst) to scan and select it. The tool will now begin to scan the Outlook Data File. If there are any errors that are detected, you will be notified. Click Repair to fix the errors. This should fix the error.

If this method does not work, you can try disabling your antivirus and then try to use the application again. Some antivirus apps scan emails as well, so if your antivirus is causing problems, you might want to try disabling it.

If you still have issues with the program, then you can contact Microsoft Customer Support. The Microsoft Customer Support team can help you find a solution for the problem, and they can also help you find a solution for other issues. To contact Microsoft Customer Support, visit their official website. A Microsoft Customer Support representative will help you solve the problem. We hope that this post helped you solve the Microsoft Outlook Error Code 0x8004DF0A.

  • I have some gmail gsuite accounts that need to be accessed via Outlook 2010. I know how to configure the accounts prpperly, and emails are received and sent via the new account test button. However when I click the «Next» button, which should confirm
and save the account, the process terminates with «An unknown error has occurred, error code 0x8004df0a», or «The requested operation failed», depending on the machine.

I’ve tried multiple times on two machines, and with two different accounts. I even tried another gmail account that is on another domain and it failed in exactly the same manner. But people must use IMAP + GMail + Outlook all the time. Does anyone
have any idea what the issue might be? I’ve talked to google and they didn’t have any luck troubleshooting this. This issue seems to be with outlook not with gmail.

I can connect to the same accounts using Outlook 2013 or  thunderbird perfectly. I have gmail configured to allow access by less secure applications.

  • Nevermind, solved now. Google doesn’t trust Outlook 2010 to allow it to connect unless ‘allow access from less secure app’ is switched on. I had that enabled but apparently it can take up to 24 hours for that setting to propagate. Outlook 2013 doesn’t
need the ‘allow less secure’ setting to enabled.

Did you properly configure gmail to allow IMAP connections? Gmail with OL
2007 works fine for me.

I have a Windows Media Center 2005 PC. That’s basically XP pro with Media Center added. I have 2 gmail accounts and use Outlook 2007. I installed my Office 2007 over an existing 2003 Standard. I got a pop-up saying that certain indexing features wouldn’t work unless I removed my Imap (in my case my 2 gmails) accounts and restored them to redownload the messages.
As I went through the 1st account setup I forgot to check the box for manual install. Outlook did the auto config as pop3. When I realized the mistake I went back to check off manual install. That’s when I got the error message above. Every time I clicked next, it came up. I thought about the auto config mistake, canceled the account setup and restarted it from scratch. This time it went through without a glitch. I came here thru Google looking for help and helped myself. Hope this can be of help to someone else. BTW maybe someone can help me with my AIM account. Have it set for imap did the config exactly as per their web site, get error. I’ll run it again to see the error message and post it here. Thanks in advance. BTW Brian Tillman, I believe we’re in the same PPC Universe Yahoo group.

‘Synchronizing subscribed folders for xx@xx.com Reported Error (0x8004DF00 ) — Using IMAP in Outlook 2007

  • Question

  • I intermittently get the following error when opening up Outlook:

Task ‘Synchronizing subscribed folders to xx@xx.com.’ reported error (0x8004DF000 : ‘Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for xx@xx.com. Error: This IMAP command cannot be sent to the server before the connection was terminated. If you continue to
receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).’

When this happens, and I try to expand the folders in my IMAP account, I get:

‘Cannot expand the folder. A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server.

This will happen about 50% of the time. I’ve contacted my email provider and they can’t find a problem on their end (webmail works fine). I’ve also tried using Thunderbird for a couple of days and have done so without a single problem fetching email or synching
    folders with that same account.

OS: Windows XP SP3(desktop) Vista SP2 (other desktop) — same error for both
    Outlook: 2007  (12.0.6607.1000) SP3 MSO (12.0.6607.1000) — same for both workstations

    IMAP port: 993 (SSL)
Timeout: 1min 40 sec (tried increasing this from 1 min, no effect).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Same problem here for the past few days.
Once I disabled SSL in the connection setting for the E-Mail account settings in Windows 7 and reverted the ports for IMAP and SMTP to the non SSL ports of 143 for IMAP and 80 for SMTP and disabling Secure Password Authentication (SPA) the problem was completely
    solved.
My guess is that the server for the secure port for IMAP is overloaded at GoDaddy/SecureServer.net and is resetting connections.  Since this is intermittent and has gotten much worse lately, I’m guessing their load has increased significantly recently
    or the equipment is faulty.
Of course, not having SSL and SPA is not an acceptable solution, but at least for me, disabling these solved the problem and points to a cause.
This is something GoDaddy needs to fix.
