Database Engine» (Could not find the Database Engine startup handle).

Could not find the Database Engine startup handle при установке SQL Server 2014

Feature: Database Engine Services

Status: Failed: see logs for details
Reason for failure: An error occurred during the setup process of the feature.
Next Step: Use the following information to resolve the error, uninstall this feature, and then run the setup process again.
Component name: SQL Server Database Engine Services Instance Features
Component error code: 0x851A0019
Error description: Could not find the Database Engine startup handle.

У данной учетной записи может быть недостаточно полномочий для запуска службы SQL Server, поэтому запустить службу невозможно, и установщик завершается с ошибкой «Could not find the Database Engine startup handle».

SQL Server:

  1. Корректно деинсталлируйте все программы, связанные с SQL Server через Панель управления и перезагрузите сервер (проверьте, что не осталось файлов и папок в каталоге C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.xxx);
SQL Server Database Engine

  1. Запустите SQL Server Configuration Manager и перейдите в раздел SQL Server Services;
SQL Server.

Note If you have version 12.0.4050.0 of SQL Server 2014 Service SP1 (KB3018269) installed, you must uninstall that update from all installation instances before you install this update. To do this, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. For more information, see KB 3018269.

Be aware that you may have KB3018269 installed for any of the following reasons:

  • You applied the update to an existing instance of SQL Server 2014.

  • You installed a new instance of SQL Server 2014 SP1 by using the KB3018269 “Slipstream Package” (for example, SQLServer2014SP1-FullSlipstream-x64-ENU).

  • You installed any of the SQL Server 2014 SP1 Express Edition packages.

Symptoms

Assume that you have a SQL Server instance that has the SSISDB catalog enabled in Microsoft SQL Server 2014. When you try to upgrade to SQL Server Service Pack 1 (SP1) build number 12.0.4050.0, you receive the following error messages:

Error: 912, Severity: 21, State: 2.

Script level upgrade for database ‘master’ failed because upgrade step ‘SSIS_hotfix_install.sql’ encountered error 3602, state 251, severity 25. This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation and the database will be taken offline. If the error happened during upgrade of the ‘master’ database, it will prevent the entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous error log entries for errors, take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script upgrade steps run to completion.

Error: 3417, Severity: 21, State: 3.

Cannot recover the master database. SQL Server is unable to run. Restore master from a full backup, repair it, or rebuild it. For more information about how to rebuild the master database, see SQL Server Books Online. SQL Server shutdown has been initiated

Note The instance is then in an invalid and unusable state.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the «Applies to» section.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall version 12.0.4050.0 of SQL Server 2014 SP1 (KB3018269).

  2. Install SQL Server 2014 SP1 version 12.0.4100.1 (version 12.0.4100.1).

Hi,

I’m trying to install SQL server 2014 Express Adv on a windows 10 laptop. The installation fails repeatedly with multiple errors (contents from log file are included below). I have tried several options based on feedback on the forums, including
disabling firewall, enabling .NET framework 3.5 and WMI in control panel. I have uninstalled completely and re-installed several times. SQL server during installation reports that some modules are missing. I would really
appreciate it, if someone could help me here.

Thanks,

Bhavana

  • Hi,

It seems there are some windows files need to be repaired. I suggest you fix the corrupted files first and then retry the SQL Server installation.

To fix the corrupted files, you may initial a new thread in our Windows Client forum via the below link.

Try this:

  1. In the Services.msc console, change the account of the «SQL Server» service to Local System account (in the service properties). Take note of the account name before changing it, you need it at step #3.

  2. Start the service. It should be able to start at this point.

  3. Using the SQL Configuration Manager (you won’t be able to do it using Services.msc), change the account back to NT Service\MSSQL$
