Pip install fails on OS X Mojave #15

I’ve been trying to install version 0.2.1 on Mojave but it’s somehow unhappy with gcc. I installed anaconda and I’ve tried both in the base environment and created another virtual environment. The error message is below. I get a similar message if I don’t specify a version.

I did a search and found two instances of regsvr32, one in c:windowsprefetch, which be much appreciated.

I just downloaded VideoPPT, and when I tried to install it, I got nothing specific to the application I’m trying to install. The other thread suggested to copy regsvr32.exe into c:windowssystem32, but (http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/616891-unable-register-dll-ocx-regsvr32.html), where the same message came up during a different install. Any help would I’m not clear about the steps of how to do this.

Does anyone have any insight into what ended in .exe, and one in c:windowssystem32, which does not appear to end in .exe. I did find something in another thread on this forum file entitled «regsvr32.exe» is missing from the c:windowssystem32 folder. I looked around for similar problems online, but found in c:windowsprefetch is REGSVR32.EXE-396DEA2C.pf

So I didn’t actually find a regsvr32.exe anywhere in my search.

3 способа регистрации библиотеки DLL для Win 10 x64 при ошибке regsvr32

После активации дополнительно установленных программ на персональное устройство (стационарное, портативное) пользователи могут столкнуться с разного рода неполадками. Если на мониторе ПК отобразилось уведомление о том, что обнаружена ошибка regsvr32 и необходимо провести регистрацию дополнительного файла DLL для блока Win10 х64, юзер не сможет завершить текущие операции и действия. Нужно проверить устройство и устранить сбой.

Как зарегистрировать файл DLL в Windows 10

Существует несколько вариантов решения проблемы, связанной с регистрацией документа DLL в операционной системе Windows 10. Начинать можно с любого подходящего способа. Если один не сработал, переходят к следующему.

С использованием «regsvr32.exe» в окне «Выполнить»

Командное окно «Выполнить» – стандартный инструмент, используемый пользователями Виндовс на 32 или 64 bit для устранения разного рода неполадок. Инструкция:

  • вызвать рабочее поле, используя комбинацию горячих клавиш «Win» и «R», либо через раздел «Пуск»;

  • в пустую строку ввести команду и путь регистрации необходимого файла: exe C:WindowsSystem32dllname.dll;

  • подтвердить запрос кнопкой «ОК» или «Enter».

Внимание! Если нужный документ находится не на диске С, используют запрос %systemroot%System32regsvr32.exe %windir%System32dllname.dll. В данном случае операционка самостоятельно определяет папку расположения блоков ОС.

По завершении процедуры, которая займет некоторое время, на мониторе ПК отобразится уведомление о текущем результате выполнения команды.

Через Командную строку

Регистрация библиотеки через Command Line осуществляется следующим образом:

  • запустить панель «Выполнить» (с помощью горячих клавиш или кнопки «Пуск»);

  • в пустое поле вводится запрос «cmd» и затем «ОК»;

  • откроется окно черного цвета, где требуется ввести команды из предыдущей инструкции.

Для ввода значений можно использовать функцию копирования и вставки скопированных строк.

Использование «Открыть с помощью»

Чтобы использовать данный инструмент, необходимо открыть папку System32. Затем выполнить несколько последовательных шагов:

  • по файлу audiosrv кликнуть правой клавишей мышки, откроется дополнительное меню действий;

Почему не удается зарегистрировать DLL

В некоторых случаях зарегистрировать нужную библиотеку не удается из-за наличия других неисправностей или ошибок. Основные варианты:

  • несовместимость документа с установленной операционкой – нужно проверить разрядность активируемого файла (64 или 32);
  • отсутствует точка входа – некоторые DLL не настроены на работу с командами типа DllRegisterServer.

Внимание! Иногда сайты, позволяющие скачать необходимые регистры, выдают за рабочие файлы документы, зараженные вирусами или не являющимися библиотеками. Такие блоки зарегистрировать невозможно.

Регистрация дополнительных рабочих библиотек DLL выполняется с помощью Командной строки, окна «Выполнить» или запроса «Открыть с помощью». Ошибку с активацией можно устранить самостоятельно, без обращения к мастеру. Важно четко выполнять инструкции и корректно вводить командные запросы, в противном случае можно внести изменения, которые будет сложно исправить.

A customer had a script to set up a virtual machine, but this call was failing: 

regsvr32 /s /n /i:u Awesome.dll

The DLL failed to register, and regsvr32 exited with code 3.

Last time, we saw exit code 3 means that the Load­Library call failed. The customer reported that the error was not consistent, and they’ve been working around it by waiting a little while and retrying the operation. But sometimes, even after a few retries, the operation still fails.

The were running regsvr32 in silent mode, so no error messages were displayed to the user.

According to the table from last time, step 3 is the Load­Library step. Since the problem was random and sometimes cleared up after a few retries, this ruled out systematic errors like copying the file to the wrong directory, or copying the wrong version of the file. Those types of errors would result in the operation failing consistently, rather than randomly.

I suspected that the Load­Library failed because the file was still in use, either because it was still being copied to the VM, or because it was being scanned or blocked by anti-malware software running in the VM.

One option for digging further is to run regsvr32 one last time in non-silent mode, so that the error details are on the screen. They could write an automation client that scrapes the message before dismissing the dialog box. If they go the automation client route, they may as well always run regsvr32 in non-silent mode.

If the team doesn’t have experience with writing automation, they could just set a watchdog on regsvr32. Pick a generous amount of time to cover typical running time of regsvr32 in the success cases. If regsvr32 has not returned by then, then take a screen shot and then terminate the regsvr32 proces.

Or they could write their own program that tries to Load­Library their DLL and captures the Get­Last­Error. Run the custom program once the first regsvr32 fails. They could even turn on loader snaps to get extremely detailed information about the Load­Library operation; that information will pinpoint exactly where it went wrong.

Another option is to run regsvr32 under the debugger with loader snaps enabled and tell the debugger to log all output to a file. 

cdb -Ggx -logo log.txt regsvr32 /s /n i:u Awesome.dll

If the DLL registers successfully, then delete the log file. If it fails, then save the log file somewhere for analysis.

Yet another possibility is that the exit code of 3 is a red herring. Perhaps something went wrong in a way that led to the C runtime calling the abort() function, which exits the program with code 3.

I resolved the problem by manually registering JackRouter.dll using the command prompt. But, the installer still gives this error.

Hello, I had the same issue and the above suggestions did not work for me: even the manual registration gave me a generic error.

Turned out I just needed to install the Visual C++ Runtime, that can be found on https://docs.microsoft.com/it-IT/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 (the first section, named «Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022»). I downloaded and installed both the 32bit and the 64bit versions, just to be sure, and then the setup correctly registered the DLLs.

Maybe this dependency should be specified in the download instructions for Windows, I can’t seem to find anything about it on the web.

Newer installers like 1.9.21 place Jack2 and JackRouter files in a different folder.
This fixed the issue for me on a Windows 7 box:

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\JACK2\jack-router\win64\JackRouter.dll"
