Engine started,engine speed at 1952-2400 rpm in closed loop,ECT sensor input more than 158ºF,VSS over 19-35 mph,and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage on the EGRC-BPT valve circuit.

Cause:

  • EGRC-BPT solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
  • EGRC-BPT valve vacuum hose is clogged or disconnected
  • Orifice missing in vacuum hose between EGRC-BPT valve and the EGRC solenoid valve
  • Exhaust system is damaged or has collapsed

Description

Turn ignition switch OFF.

Disconnect push-button ignition switch connector.

3.

Check voltage between push-button ignition switch harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> GO TO 2.

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT

1.

Disconnect BCM connector and IPDM E/R connector.

2.

Check continuity between push-button ignition switch harness connector and BCM harness connector.

3.

Check continuity between push-button ignition switch harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection normal?

Description

BCM receives the 2 vehicle speed signals via CAN communication. 1 signal is transmitted by the “combination
meter” Another signal is transmitted by “ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).” BCM compares both sig-
nals to detect the vehicle speed.
