Nikon d80 ошибка r06

<p>Oh good grief. This needs to be a «sticky» post at the beginning of the forum. «R06, R08», etc. are not error messages. They’re the amount of shots available in the camera’s buffer. You see them whenever you hold the shutter button 1/2 way down or all the way down. The fact that you don’t notice them there, helpful and friendly, most of the time you’re shooting, says that you «stab» the shutter button, instead of squeezing off your shots (but that’s a discussion for another day). First question, when you get the shutter sound, does the viewfinder go black? If so, is it a «flicker» of black, or does it stay black for some time?</p>

<p>Since you’re a «stabber» (which is probably also why you’re «anonymous»), you only really see the «R» numbers when you stab and the camera doesn’t immediately take a picture. So, the thing you need to find out is «why isn’t the camera immediately taking a picture?»</p>

<ol>

<li>Most common cause, you’re in single servo AF mode «S Mode» and you’ve accidentally flipped the camera’s or the lens’s (some lenses have their own M/A switch) AF/MF lever to the MF position. In «S mode», the camera won’t let the shutter fire until there’s a focus lock, and if the AF/MF lever has been nudged into the MF position, there won’t be a focus lock unless you manually focus. Put the lever back in AF position, and life is good.</li>

<li>The levers are set right, but there’s not enough light. Although if that’s the case, the lens will normally «hunt» back and forth trying to focus. You didn’t mention hunting, so I’m inclined to think this isn’t it. </li>

<li>The lens is broken. You took your lens on and off a few times. Do you have another AF lens to try?</li>

<li>One of your buttons is physically stuck down or shorted out. That’s a theory based on your comment about buttons on the right side of the camera not working.</li>

</ol>

<p>Removing and replacing the lens isn’t likely to help. Anything going wrong with the communication between lens and camera will cause an «FEE» error (that is a real error, relating to communication), instead of the «R» status displays. The battery or the card? Again, not likely. Everything speaks to one of two things, either you flipped the lever, or your lens is broken. My money is on the lever. ;)</p>

Björn O. says:

r06 means that there’s room for 6 images in the buffer before the camera will pause until the content is written to the SD card. This can happen when shooting in continuous mode.

If you have a fast card and shoot JPG it’s hard to reach that limit. When shooting RAW the buffer can only hold 2 or 3 shots and it’s fairly easy to fill the buffer.

As for the shutter not releasing this only happens to me when there’s a problem focusing or when there’s no SD card inserted. There’s a warning in the viewfinder for both. Try switching to manual focus and/or AF-C and make sure the SD card works in the camera.

Thank you all for replying. :)

Here are a few things I tried since my last post…

— Reset my camera’s settings
— Switched SD cards
— Changed focus settings
— Changed picture size/quality settings
— Switched lenses ( just thought I’d try it)

but still…

It’s not a problem. It’s not a error. Every D80 does that.

It’s how many shots you have left in fast burst mode, let’s say 3 frames per second, if you hold your finger and keep shooting that will decrease as the pictures are taken until your camera start taking 1 frame per second, etc

Rai 幻の光 says:

Thanks again.

The thing is I am not shooting in burst/continuous mode, and it’s the first time I’ve seen this message since I started using the D80 almost 2 years now (except of course when I was shooting burst).

[r06] is NOT an Error message.

Reasons for Shutter release is disabled. Pg. 130 of manual.

Memory Card is Full,Locked,or not inserted.
Flash is charging.
Camera is not in focus.
CPU lens is attached and aperture ring not locked to highest f-stop.
Non-Cpu lens and camera is not in Manual mode.

If none of those help then maybe the camera is malfunctioning. Try different SD card,Lens to verify that it is the body malfunctioning.

min_is_3 says:

I have the same problem and at first I thought it was because my memory card wasn’t fast enough. I originally bought a regular Sandisk 4GB SDHC card and I got the r06 message when shooting in continuous mode, Large +Fine.

So, I saw a great deal at BestBuy for a 4GB SDHC Extreme II card with a write speed of 15MB/s for $25. Well, to my surprise, I still got the r06 message.

I swear, that before I bought the camera, every reviewer online said that it can shoot 3fps for 100 shots and even the manual says that. Well, what every one of those reviewers failed to mention (along with the manual) and something I learned from this flickr group instead was that the 3fps for 100 shots is only when you shoot at the dinky sized picture settings. Misleading advertisement I say.

But since I never have a need to shoot more than 3 shots in a row anyways, I have learned to live with it.

Surely Not says:

The r## will change depending on what quality and size of picture you’re taking — stick it on Basic and Small and mine changes right up to r51

I know it’s been mentioned already, but are you sure it’s not a focus issue? Have you tried putting the camera on manual focus?

James Kaarremaa says:

Yeah the D80 has a really small buffer. The rxx message with no shot probably means you are in AF-S mode and your camera is not locking focus. Try AF-C and see if that makes any difference.

I just got the r51 on my D80. Threw my 18-200mm VR on to take a test shot (haven’t used either in quite some time) and got the r51 error. Threw the lens on my D300 and got an r06 error.

Both times, the lens would not focus. All switches are set correctly for AF, nothing set to Manual. If I throw on my Tamron 17-50, both the D80 & D300 AF just fine. At this point, I’d have to say it’s probably a lens problem. I’ll have to try to clean the contacts and see if that’s the issue.

Cash Lion says:

So apparently, I’ve bought a crap camera? I shoot in AF-S mode and I get r06 message in my info display. From what I’ve read this means the buffer is working and trying to record a picture or is catching up to the last action the camera took (i.e. the last picture the camera took). One way to correct this is to get a faster card and/or switch to JPEG mode? If I don’t want to switch to JPEG mode, what is the fastest card I can get for the D80? There should be a list for cards that can accept highest memory loads from the camera. Did I make a bad investment, or is there a viable solution to this problem? Instead of just quoting the camera manual, please give concise and meaningful answers. What I understand is that RAW is not a friendly format for this camera when shooting a string of pictures regardless of AF mode…

Lance Rogers
says:

Cash Lion, I hardly think the D80 is a crap camera. I shoot in continuous mode and RAW only a lot. If you want faster, you need to step up to a D300 or D3. The D80 is clearly rated at 3fps on the box and on the Nikon site and I consistently get this. Have I filled the buffer and had to wait? Yes. There is no misleading advertisement here.

I’ve been very pleased with the SanDisk ExtremeIII 4GB rated at 30mb/s. Don’t buy knock off’s or out of package stuff and don’t pay Best Buy prices. Do your research. I’ve heard others have good success with Lexar brand stuff as well. Nikon lists a minimum requirement for cards, but they are not in the business of making SD cards and if you have ever tried to understand performance specs on SD cards, you would see why. There is a reason the fastest cameras use CF cards instead.

As far as memory loads, the market is hell bent on size and a smaller sector is focused on Speed. The D80 performs quite well with standard SD cards and the majority of SD Cards on the market work in the D80.

ages ago

eystein.aarseth says:

It’s not really worth it to buy the fastest SD cards on the market for a D80. The camera can only write at 66x speed (~10mb/sec), you *may* get slightly better performance out of it if you buy 133x speed cards, but anything faster than that is just a waste of money.

Check Rob Galbraith’s tests.

Andrew McKenna says:

That’s true, and the weakest part of the equation is still the D80’s own memory.

That r06 is just a display for your information. Just like on a film camera it tells you how many frames you have left on you film.
It’s not an error code.

But honestly, why do people buy a camera of the level of a D80 or D90 and expect it to perform to the level of a D3?
Why do you think the D3 costs five times as much?
It doesn’t produce images that are five times better. What you’re paying for is performance.
Every camera has limits and it’s pretty obvious which have more limits than others.

Rangefindergeneral says:

I’ve got r02 on mine.
If you set the IQ to RAW and the long exposure NR to on and the high iso NR to high the buffer drops to r02.
But if you turn the NR off and set to basic S you get r51.
These are not problems its just how the camera works normally.
If you are shooting and you have filled the buffer the shutter won’t work because it has no where to put the shot, bit like running out of film.
I am sorry if I am not clear on what the problem is?
Is the camera is not working at all or have you just noticed the r03?????
There are several variables in getting 3.5FPS from the D80 the above are most of them you also have to consider battery condition, shutter speed-aperture, temperature, and memory card.

WAIT UP PEOPLE! READ THIS!

r02, r03, r51 etc are NOT error messages. You will see this in the viewfinder and on the control panel whenever the camera is in shooting mode. As mentioned above, it is the number of images that will fit in the buffer. Just because you see it when you can’t shoot for some reason does NOT make it an error code. I can still see my aperture and shutter speed when the camera seems «locked up» but that doesn’t make them error codes either. Read your manual. Errors appear on the top line of the top display behind the shutter trigger (called the control panel in your D80 manual) and begin with «Err». If your memory is full, you will see «Full» there.

If you have long exposure noise reduction turned on, then after you take a picture with a shutter speed of 8s or slower, you will see «Job nr» on the control panel and it will take about the same amount of time to process the image as it did to take the exposure. This can make you think the camera is locked up. High ISO noise reduction does something similar but does not take nearly as long to apply.

As for only seeing a max of r51 displayed, remember that as you are taking pictures and putting images in the buffer, the camera is also trying to empty the buffer, so you can take up to 99 pictures (jpg,- small) in burst mode before the buffer fills up. Fast cards allow you to empty the buffer faster. I use Sandisk Extreme III and love them.

orb9220 provided a nice list for why the camera may seem «locked up». Other reasons…

Long exposure NR
High ISO NR
Your subject keeps moving, preventing the camera from locking focus.
You are too close to focus on the subject.
It is too dark to focus.
The subject isn’t moving, but you are and the camera can’t lock focus… this happens mostly when you are very close to the subject.

RAI 幻の光 : I think I don’t understand your post — Is the r06 showing up all the time even right after turning on the camera and not pressing the shutter release? And the shutter will never work? If that is happening, I think you have a problem even though r06 is not an error code (as pointed out many times above).

Or, doees it just show up after a series of burst shots and then the shutter will not release until the biffer is cleared?

I love it when people bump old threads ;)

To anyone trying to help the OP, this thread is 8 months old I hope he’s got it fixed by now.

Cash Lion your camera can shoot RAW at 3fps for 6 shots, after that it will slow to the speed of the memory card.
If you want to shoot more shots than that you need to shoot jpeg I think you can take 100 shots a 3fps in jpeg providing you have a decent card.

On a side note does anyone know what setting causes the buffer to only display 5 remaining rather than 6?

mohandasG, read ALL the responses above. you’ll find that r06 is not an error message and has NOTHING to do with your problem. As for why the lens won’t AF, are you saying the lens doesn’t even try to focus, or it just continues to hunt and never gets focus lock? There is an AF switch on the D80 camera body and there may be an AF switch on the lens. Both must be set to AF (or AF ON) to autofocus.

Mirror box

Re: What is error code

As others have pointed out, that R06 is simply the number of shots left in the buffer. If you take several shots rapidly, that number will go down, then back up as they’re written to the CF card.

Your focus problem is something else. Perhaps your (AF-S) lens is on manual, or the body (switch to the right of lens, looking from front of camera). Or perhaps the available light is dim, it seeks a couple of times, and gives up. Or you have the CSM setting that says not to focus when the shutter is pressed, but only when the AFL button is pressed.

So just what happens when you try to shoot? Any motion of the lens, or sound?
