Error Code 0x300005f When Connecting from MacOS to Win10 RDP

We have problem with Win10 RDP connection using Microsoft remote desktop — ver 10.3.8 on MacOS.

Found that is a known issue:

  • I have multiple MAC users using RDP Client 10.3.x that cannot access the RDS Windows 2012R2 RDWeb farm.
    They get this error:

    An error occurred while communicating with the Remote Desktop Gateway. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance. Error code: 0x300005f

    They have downgraded the RDP client to version 8.x and its working fine.
    I came up empty on that error code on the Internet.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • We have the same problem. But we are not able to download the RDP Client v8 because in our location the mac appstore only has v10.

    Can u upload v8 somewhere for us?

I bought a Netgear CM700 and Nighthawk R6700 — AC1750 for my internet through comcast xfinity at my new apartment. Everything works as expected except Microsoft Remote Desktop does not work to my work computer. My office uses a gateway and we have an IT guy who is only mildly available and helpful some of the time.

Issue: I try to connect to my work computer through any device on my home network (hard wired or wifi) I get an error similiar to «An error occurred while communicating with the Remote Desktop Gateway. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance.

Error code: 0x300005f»

Troubleshooting I’ve done:

Restart modem and router — doesn’t work

Use windows, mac, chromebook (wifi) — doesn’t work

Hard wire into router with windows laptop — doesn’t work

Connect using my iPhone as a modem — works

Hard wire into Netgear modem (router not connected) — works

Connect to ExpressVPN and connect through router using wifi — works

Use the following procedure to uninstall (remove) the RD Licensing role service from the server.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, on the RD Licensing server that you plan to configure, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477 .

The removal of the RD Licensing role service from the server requires that you restart the computer. Also, the folder containing the RD Licensing database is deleted.

  1. Open Server Manager. To open Server Manager, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.
  2. In the left pane, expand Roles.
  3. Right-click Remote Desktop Services, and then click Remove Role Services.
  4. On the Select Role Services page, clear the Remote Desktop Licensing check box, and then click Next.
  5. On the Confirm Removal Selections page, click Remove.
  6. On the Removal Progress page, removal progress is noted.
  7. On the Removal Results page, you are prompted to restart the server to finish the removal process. Click Close, and then click Yes to restart the server.
  8. If you are prompted that other programs are still running, do either of the following:

RD Client it needs internet, I tried it on IPhone, when I disable data, it throws an error. Nobody uses the Internet on the Mac via cable, because when I connect to the Wi-Fi of the remote PC, at that moment the Mac does not have the Internet and it does not work. I bought a Netgear CM700 and Nighthawk R6700 — AC1750 for my internet through comcast xfinity at my new apartment. Everything works as expected except Microsoft Remote Desktop does not work to my work computer. My office uses a gateway and we have an IT guy who is only mildly available and helpful some of the time.

Issue: I try to connect to my work computer through any device on my home network (hard wired or wifi) I get an error similiar to «An error occurred while communicating with the Remote Desktop Gateway. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance.

I bought a Netgear CM700 and Nighthawk R6700 — AC1750 for my internet through comcast xfinity at my new apartment. Everything works as expected except Microsoft Remote Desktop does not work to my work computer. My office uses a gateway and we have an IT guy who is only mildly available and helpful some of the time.

Issue: I try to connect to my work computer through any device on my home network (hard wired or wifi) I get an error similiar to «An error occurred while communicating with the Remote Desktop Gateway. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance.

Error code: 0x300005f»

Troubleshooting I’ve done:

Restart modem and router — doesn’t work

Use windows, mac, chromebook (wifi) — doesn’t work

Hard wire into router with windows laptop — doesn’t work

Connect using my iPhone as a modem — works

Hard wire into Netgear modem (router not connected) — works

Connect to ExpressVPN and connect through router using wifi — works
