Hey ya’ll!
I love Total War series and just started playing it again, but I keep having this certain problem.
While playing in the campaign my game keeps quick-saving on it’s own on randomly. Example: I was buying troops in some town when the MedievalShell appears, then comes loading screen and quick-save successful message. If I don’t remove that quick-save the game sometimes loads that save on its own and I get the infamous «Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit» message.
Can anyone help?
Also when starting the game I get this message:

Re: «couldn’t create save file on disk» error
If you are using Vista or Win7, you have to be logged into the computer as administrator and you have to have full administrative rights to the Sega folder.

Re: «couldn’t create save file on disk» error
I am having the same problem on windows 7, i fiddled around with my administrator rights on the file, and tried saving the game on the administrator log in, unsuccessfully. I have been playing the game fine for a few months now, this problem only occurred yesterday. is this definitely a problem with administrator rights? and if so, how exactly do i fix it?
thanks

Re: «couldn’t create save file on disk» error
There is no easy fix.
Have you disabled the UAC? This game is old enough to have problems with it.
Have you taken ownership of C: drive for your login in the security tab? It can make a world of difference.

Re: «couldn’t create save file on disk» error
i gave my user full control of my c:drive but it came up with a few access denied type messages, none i recognised as being from the games files though (although it could have been i guess) and how do i disable the uac?
thanks again

Re: «couldn’t create save file on disk» error
Very easy fix for this. Right click the Rome Total War Folder in the programs folder, go to properties, security, edit permissions for your user name, allow full control, hit apply.
