When playing on this server, everything was going fine, then everyone suddenly wasn’t moving, i couldn’t open interfaces, and could destroy blocks i usually can’t, i got dissconnected and it said this «disconnected by server» and underneath that «ReadTimeoutException: null» whats this mean? how can i fix it? I kinda troubleshooted this and people were saying because the server was full but i was in the server for at least 30 min. prior to this, i have gotten this a few times, this server can be donated to and you will get reserved slots in their minigames, i am not a donater and i was in a minigame, is it possible that a donater joined and it kicked me because the server was full and they have priority over me? the server was shotbow, IP «us.shotbow.net» or «eu.shotbow.net» anyone have a fix to this?

I know the problem. ReadTimeoutException: Null is some technical jargon to do with Java and that. Try to relog onto the server, and if that doesn’t work, restart your Internet or Minecraft.
As for the full server theory, the reserved slots aren’t shown on signs and the like.

ReadTimeoutException: null
This can mean a couple of thinks.
1) You Ping got to large for the server to handle
2) The server got full.
3) The server Terminal kicked you (unlikely) -

It can be for the reasons above;
1. Either the proxy is messed up
2. Bad internet is the result of devastation.
3. If there is some donation system where you get kicked for a donater it can be that too…
4. Ping is too small for the server or too large to handle. -

I happen to have the same problem and none of these are working, the server is DEFINETLY NOT full, my ping is bearable, and I was able to get on it yesterday and today’s morning, I don’t understand D:< whenever I try to log in, it says logging in for a long time then gives ReadTimeoutexception : Null, I’ve heard from another player that it had also happened to them, relogging hasn’t helped

[Netty Epoll Server IO #4/ERROR] [FML] NetworkDispatcher timeout #987
Minecraft 1.12.2
Forge 14.23.5.2807
Astral Sorcery 1.10.10
Last night while doing a series of teleports using celestial gateways I got booted from the server with the «Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host» message. I was standing on a gateway after arriving when I was disconnected.
Since then I’ve been unable to stay connected to the server, although everything was working fine up to that point. Sometimes I can load into the world, but everything is frozen. Usually, though, I don’t get past the dirt screens (loading terrain. ).
Here is the record of my connection attempts from start to finish, which always ends on these lines:
[11:09:28] [Server thread/INFO] [Astral Sorcery]: [Astral Sorcery] Waiting for server synchronization on login for NerdimusPrime.
[11:09:28] [Server thread/INFO] [Astral Sorcery]: [Astral Sorcery] Synchronizing baseline information to NerdimusPrime
[11:12:28] [Netty Epoll Server IO #4/ERROR] [FML]: NetworkDispatcher exception
io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException: null
[11:12:28] [Server thread/INFO] [minecraft/NetHandlerPlayServer]: NerdimusPrime lost connection: Disconnected
[11:12:28] [Server thread/INFO] [minecraft/DedicatedServer]: NerdimusPrime left the game
I have rebooted server and client, removed and reinstalled the AS jar from both server and client, installed the Random Patches mod to increase the timeout to 90 seconds, exported my profile in the Twitch launcher with only the folders config, mods, journeymap, resourcepacks, and servers.dat, and used it to create a new profile. Nothing works, although I’ve at least managed to teleport myself off the gateway to another location in between disconnects. I’m hoping someone might have a solution, because I’m at a loss.

Hello there, I recently created a Forge Server, with the version: 14.23.4.2738. When people are trying to connect to the server, it takes a long time. Minecraft says «logging in. » for a long time, and after that it instantly tells the user that it has been «Disconnected». I have no idea why is occur. From my googling this should have been fixed in the versions from 1.12 and above. Sadly it’s not fixed in my case. I tried disabling the firewalls on both the server and client, but I had no success in doing so.
When a user is trying to join the server I get the following in the console:
[Netty Server IO #1/INFO] [CodeChickenLib-ConfigSync]: Sending config sync packet to player.
[Netty Server IO #1/ERROR] [FML]: NetworkDispatcher exception io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadtimeoutException: null
[Server thread/INFO] [minecraft/NetHandlerPlayServer]: (PLAYER) lost connection: Timed out
I’ve tried many things to resolve this error. Sadly nothing worked the way I wanted it to. My PC is able to join the server, but my friends PC, is completely unable to join the server. My friends PC is connected through Internet Cable, so the internet shouldn’t be the problem in this case. He have tried to join the server many times, but without luck. My server is hosted in a VM, the Port Forwarding is done correctly, and the firewall is open. There shouldn’t be any problem there. I tried hosting a vanilla server, and that worked out completely fine.
Please feel free to ask me anything about this issue, and Thanks for reading this.
To end this I just wanted to give you a list of the installed Mods below: (This list is the Server side Mods)

Bug io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException: null issue
Kissune

I run a FTB Revelations server, using a hosting provider, with only a couple of extra mods added (galacticraft and ProjectE specifically)
One of the players I play with has an issue where if he connects to the server, he can play for about 10 seconds, before getting timed out. When he does, his model stays in the game for a little while, before eventually disconnecting itself. When it does, this is the error it throws in the console. He can connect just fine, but he gets booted after a few moments.
[00:27:27] [Netty Epoll Server IO #5/ERROR] [FML]: NetworkDispatcher exception
io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException: null
[00:27:27] [Server thread/INFO] [minecraft/NetHandlerPlayServer]: PLAYERNAME lost connection: Disconnected
I think it’s a problem with him specifically, and not the provider, because everyone else on the server (10 people in total) can connect just fine, with no problems. That’s why I’m not going to the hosting provider for support.
Things we have tried:
Resetting his router.
Restarting game.
Reinstalling the launcher and modpack.
Resetting winsock
Reinstalling Java
Deleting his player.dat
Restarting server
Connecting to a different server on a different version (Worked fine?)
Running the world on a hamachi connection (Worked fine, he could connect)
We know the problem has to be that either he has issues with connecting to specifically that server, or that server has problems allowing him specifically to connect. This has been a nightmare to troubleshoot, and I still don’t know what the fuck the problem is. I don’t know why he can connect, move around and interact with things for a few seconds, before getting timed out.

Please see this guide for how to post a good topic.
You aren’t being really specific when / where you get the issue, so I can only assume what’s going on.
If what I think you are trying to say is, you’re getting timeout exceptions when joining a specific server?
In that case, it is very likely that the server you are trying to connect to may be down and or unavailable.

I hate vauge people.
Anyway, that’s a huge pointer that the server is offline at the moment. That’s the server’s fault, can’t be fixed by us.
But it is online

By «Online» do you mean a server tracking site/ website «Online»? Even on dedicated server websites these «Online» messages are often very old, do not work or accept false online pings. If other people are on it right now (Again, don’t rely on web-based «This server has Quark playing» things) then it’s a problem with your Minecraft install.

I got a friend to go on the server and he could. But I don’t know how its my Minecraft install because I can get onto other servers just fine.

Ok, I didn’t want to post a new topic with this one already here, so lets see if I can fill in the missing clues.
I can connect to a server I regularly play on (there has been no changes to my client or the server in weeks). I randomly get disconnected within 5 minutes with the «io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException» error. After this I cannot reconnect to the server without rebooting my client.
Here is my latest log (I removed the [CHAT]) lines, there was no client crash so I have no error log.

That’s not a BungeeCord issue, obvuisly is some plugin of your backend giving that issue of readTimeOut.

Yep
Okay it worked…..the solution was just to delete all plugins (not plugin files) then add each plugin one-by-one to check which plugin was causing that error….trust me it works

ReadTimeoutException : null Error
Discussion in ‘BungeeCord Help’ started by V8Pratik-YT, May 17, 2021.

V8Pratik-YTHey, im facing this problem from a long time and im not able to fix it till now. In my case, i think its because of login process like when too many players join at the same time this happens. No error nothing in console just a disconnect msg contaning «ReadTimeoutException : null Error». i tried changing proxy software also like from bungeecord to flamecord but not working.

Nemlin1Hello this error has many causes you could try this
Code (YAML):connection_throttle: -1
timeout: 30000 or 15000
network_compression_threshold: 256It can be caused by the host or the bad connection of its users
It can also be due to the rendering of chunks#2

V8Pratik-YTOk i will try.

-
Janmm14Do not set connection throttle to -1 in bungee.
It does not solve the problem you have and will just make your bungeecord vulnerable to dos attacks.#4
