Подскажите, пожалуйста. Создаю полигоны в editable poly, один создать не получается, выскакивает ошибка Illegal new face. Что с этим делать? В нэте толкового объяснения не нашел.

Edit Geometry Rollout — ‘Create’ button: ‘Illegal new face’ error


I’m trying to create a new polygon between exiting vertices using the Create button (Edit Geometry Rollout (Polymesh and Edit Poly)) but am getting a ‘Illegal new face’ error. I’ve tried to find an online tute to guide me using the function but without luck

I’m doing the following:

1. select model

2. select Polygon mode

3. click Create button on Edit Geometry roll out

4. click the four vertices to mark the poly’s boundary 

5. Double click on the last vertex — ‘Illegal new face’ error appears

what am I doing wrong? thanks

Strange! No matter how many times I try even changing some methods, that error doesn’t seem to appear. May be try using the SNAP TO VERTEX before trying again. 

Right click on the Snaps Button to and select Vertex if it’s not already turned on.

thanks tried snapping but got the error again.

the model was created from two separate models: the top and walls were one model, the base another. The Base was then Attached to the Top/Walls.

Could be causing the problem?

I’ve tried that too, but it still works in mine. 

What I tried is Made a box similar to your object. Deleted it’s top. Made a plane and modeled it to fit the top of the box. Attached them together to make one piece (I did not weld the vertices though). Deleted the two polygons that I saw from your first attachment. Then created the polygon using the Create tool.

Did I do it right?

Делаю полигоны в Editable Poly-фигуре. Почти все закончил, осталось 2, которые ну никак не хотят создаваться. Выдается сообщение Illegal new face. Пробовал направление обхода менять — не помогает. В конце-концов, методом тыка определил, что есть 2 вредных точки (для каждого из «несоздавабельных» полигонов), которые не хотят коннектиться с другими точками. Но что с ними может быть не так? Они ведь, кстати, не изолированные — на них уже «держатся» другие, созданные ранее полигоны.

Я и ранее пробовал создавать эту фигуру, но тогда тоже были подобные ошибки — может, для других точек, но тоже «illegal new face»-сообщение вываливалось…

Как понять?

незаметно было, но под определенным углом стало заметно, что на этих точках «висели» неправильные случайносозданные полигоны.

И всё-таки 3DMax — крутая штука! Ух, люблю… :)

Сам частенько сталкивался, получалось как-то обмануть , сегодня провозился 2 часа , все решилось банально флипом

    This is a new one for me. I’m modeling a rim for one of our cars and am working on a single «pie» section that will have a Symmetry modifier applied when done. However, I have two elements that just don’t want to be one. I’ve tried welding, detaching and re-attaching, and recently deleting faces and trying to recreate. With the ladder I keep getting the error message «Illegal new face» at close. This only happens with certain adjacent faces to the two elements. Have any of you experienced this? Thoughts/solutions?
