Blinking lights on TVs are often an indication of errors, whether minor or major ones. By knowing what each blinking code indicates, you can narrow down the issue and find solutions quicker.
In this guide, I am going to show you all the Hisense TV blinking codes, their meanings and what to do when you are faced with each error.
This applies to Hisense LED & LCD TVs (including Hisense Vidaa and Android smart TVs) and Hisense Roku TVs. However, you need to be sure of the exact number of times the light on your Hisense TV blinks.
Therefore, make sure you check it and count carefully at least two times, by turning off your TV and trying to turn it back on again.
With that said, let’s dive right into it.
Below are Hisense TV blinking codes, what each of them means and how to fix in 2023:
Hisense TV Red Light Blinking
If your Hisense red power light flashes and won’t turn on when you press the power button, then the power board is probably faulty, and it needs a replacement.
How to Fix:
Try to power cycle the TV first. here’s how to do that:
- Unplug your TV from power outlet
- Leave it unplugged for 30 – 60 seconds
- Press the power button on your TV for 30 seconds
- Plug the TV back into the power source and try to turn it on
If that fixes the issue, good. Otherwise, you need to check and replace the power board or change faulty capacitors on the board.
If a capacitor is faulty, some of the signs you might see include:
- The capacitor is bulging at the top
- The capacitor is leaking
- Corrosive layer on one or both legs of the capacitor
- Bottom of the capacitor is pushed out
NOTE: The capacitor may be faulty and not show any visual sign. Hence, the most accurate way to check in such case will be to use a multimeter to check the voltage, and compare it to the expected/labelled voltage of the capacitors. If you see a wrong voltage reading on the multimeter, then it is faulty even if there is no visual sign.
Ideally, you should replace the capacitor with a new one that matches the ratings (Voltage, Temperature and Micro farads). In case where you can’t get the exact value for the 3 ratings, you can get one that has voltage and temperature that is higher that that of the old capacitor but not lower. The micro farad can also be slightly higher, but not lower.
If there are no faulty capacitors, then replace the whole power supply board on the TV.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 2 Times
If your Hisense TV red light blinks 2 times, then you have bad LED backlight strips or faulty backlight inverter board. This is quite a common issue, all you need to do is replace the strips.
In some cases, red light flashing twice on Hisense TV may also indicate bad power supply board.
How to Fix:
Replace the LED backlight strips or install a new backlight inverter board. This will fix the issue 9 out of 10 times. If that doesn’t work, check the power board for blown or bulged capacitors and replace them with new capacitor with similar charge.
Irrespective, be very careful while doing this since the screen is very fragile.

Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 3 Times
Hisense TV red light blinking 3 times is an indication of LED rail shutdown which can be caused by excess voltage or current from power surge. In such case, some lamps in the panel might have been damaged.
How to Fix:
Open up the TV and test the lamps in the panel. You can use a 3V power source (2 AA batteries) to test each lamp one at a time. Once you find faulty ones, replace them. This will take you more time since you have to test each lamp and replace faulty ones.
While it’s much cheaper to replace individual LEDs, the issue may happen again since this could indicate a bad batch.
Your best bet is to replace the entire LED strip which is not only easier but also a better solution.

That said, let’s look at the next Hisense TV blinking code.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 4 Times
If you notice that the red light on your Hisense TV blinks four times, followed by a pause and then repeats, it could indicate a problem with the mainboard or video processing unit.
The mainboard is responsible for controlling the various functions of your TV, while the video processing unit is responsible for rendering the images displayed on the screen. If either component is faulty, it can lead to a lack of picture, distorted visuals, or even the inability to turn on.
How to Fix:
To address a mainboard or video processing issue, it is best to seek the assistance of a professional technician. Attempting to fix the issue on your own can cause further damage to your TV.
Contact Hisense support or a qualified technician to diagnose and repair the issue. They will assess the situation and determine if the mainboard needs to be repaired or replaced.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 5 Times
If you notice that the red light on your Hisense TV blinks 5 times, followed by a pause and then repeats, it could indicate a problem with the T-CON board.
The T-CON board is responsible for controlling the timing and data flow between the mainboard and the LCD panel.
Malfunctioning T-CON board can lead to display issues such as distorted images, lines on the screen, or even a complete lack of picture.
How to Fix:
You can fix this issue by simply replacing the T-Con board.
If you cannot fix this yourself, you can seek the help of a qualified technician to diagnose and repair the issue. You can also contact Hisense TV support.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 6 Times
If your Hisense TV won’t turn on and red light flashes 6 times, then you have busted bulb. In other words, one or more of the LEDs on the light strips behind the panel are burned out. The system has a shutdown mechanism that is sensitive enough to detect even just one bad LED in the backlight system.
In some cases, the TV may come on for a second or two before going black immediately. In other cases, you may also see a blue flashing light on your Hisense TV, then the screen goes black followed by red light blinking 6 times.
How to Fix:
If your Hisense TV blinks red light 6 times, you need to access the panels carefully without damaging it, then replace the bad bulbs. You can also change all the strips as a whole which is relatively easier than replacing individual ones.
If that doesn’t fix it, go ahead and replace the IR sensors on the panel.
If the TV flashes blue light first, goes off and flashes red light 6 times, your best bet is to return the TV if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, you may end up spending too much on fixing and the best option will be to get a new TV.
By the way, replacing the main board, power board and/or T con board will not fix this issue.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 7 or 8 Times
If your Hisense TV red light blinks 7 or 8 times with no picture, you have a backlight issue.
In some cases, the power light may blink 7 times, pause and then blink 3 times making a total of 10 blinks. In other cases, you may notice one slow red blink followed by 7 rapid red light blinks. Whichever way, here’s what you need to do:
First, press the power button to turn on the TV and try to notice if you can hear sound coming from your Hisense TV. If this is the case, you definitely have a faulty backlight.
Alternatively, you can confirm the defective backlight issue by point a flashlight to the TV screen. If the backlight is defective, you will likely see dull images on the screen while the pointing the touch, provided your TV is turned on properly but without clear pictures.
How to Fix:
- Open up the TV and disassemble the LED panel. By very careful when doing this to avoid damaging it.
- Access the backlight panel, test all the LED strips and replace faulty the faulty bulb/strip. Make sure the replacement has the same values as the faulty old one
- Once replaced, reassemble the TV and you are good to go!
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 9 Times
If your Hisense TV red light blinks 9 times, it indicates a backlight voltage issue.
How to Fix:
This is similar to the red light blinking 3, 7 or 8 times explained earlier. Scroll up to read more on it.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 10 Times
If your Hisense TV red light blinks 10 times, it can be caused by a bad LED driver/LED strips, faulty power board or main board.
If it blinks 10 times and the light goes off as it normally would when the TV starts displaying picture, only this time it doesn’t display any picture, then it’s like a bad LED driver/LED strips. In this case, it’s quite likely that you will also hear sound but no pictures on the TV.
If the red light on the Hisense TV starts blinking after pressing the power button, this means that it’s receiving power from the main board but cannot transfer it to the part of the TV to power it on. In that case, you have a faulty power supply board. This can be caused by a bad capacitor or diode on the power supply board.
However, if the TV starts blinking immediately it is plugged into a power outlet, then it’s likely an issue with the main board since it’s responsible for the initial turn on command.
How to Fix:
First, you need to test all the LED strips first. You can either use a LED tester or a battery. If all the LED strips are working, then you need to replace the LED driver on the power supply board. You may also replace the power supply board.
If that doesn’t fix the issue, then you need to replace the main board. Also, you can always narrow down the issue to the power or main board by testing each with a meter.
In addition, the boards are plug and play which means you don’t need to solder anything. You just a screw driver to open up the TV, locate the faulty board, unplug it via the plastic connectors on the ends and replace with a compatible working board as needed.

Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 19 Times
If your Hisense TV red light blinks 19 times, it can be caused by a faulty power board.
In other words, the power board needs to be replaced.
How to Fix:
To fix the issue, you need to replace the power board with a new one.
If your TV is still under warranty, I will recommend that you get in touch with Hisense TV customer service support, and they will help with the replacement at no cost or risk to you.
Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 20 Times
If your Hisense TV red light blinks 20 times, it is usually due to a faulty backlight, T-Con board or main board. It can also be a combination of these.
To check if you have a faulty backlight, turn on the TV and do a flashlight test. To do this, point a flashlight at the TV screen and check if you can see images. If so, then you have a faulty backlight.
You should also check for distorted images, horizontal or vertical lines on the images when you view it with flashlight. If you see any form of image distortion, then the T-Con board and/or the main board is also faulty. If not, it’s just a backlight issue.
How to Fix:
To fix the issue, you need to replace the faulty backlight. If there’s a distorted image, you need to replaced the T-Con board as well, and if the issue persists, then replace the main board too.
Again, you can get in touch with Hisense TV customer support if your TV is still under warranty.
Hisense TV White Light Blinking
If your Hisense TV flashes white light once, pauses for a second and then continues blinking repeatedly with no picture on the screen, then you have defective backlights. That is, the LED strips probably need to be replaced or the LED controller is dead.
You can confirm the defective backlight issue by point a flashlight to the TV screen. If the backlight is defective, you will likely see dull images on the screen while the pointing the touch, provided your TV is turned on properly but without clear pictures.
How to Fix:
Replace the defective backlights and the TV should start working again.
Hisense Roku TV Red Light Blinking
Red light blinking on Hisense Roku continuously is an indication of low or insufficient power. This can happen when you plug your Roku device into the USB port on your TV or when you have a faulty power cord/adapter. I have a full guide explaining the issue and how to fix it here.
However, if your Hisense Roku TV red light blinks twice, then it means your TV is having difficulty connection to the network.
How to Fix:
- Check connection status and signal strength
- Power cycle your Roku TV
- Use the Roku power cord to supply power to your Hisense Roku device
- Check the power outlet for any fault
- Get a replacement power cable or adapter that is compatible with your device
- Clear your Roku device cache
- Contact Roku support team

Irrespective of the issue you are facing, it’s always worth trying a soft reset or power cycle first.
- To do that, turn off your Hisense TV and unplug it from the wall outlet.
- Then, press the power button on the TV while leaving it unplugged for 30-60 seconds.
- After that, plug it back into the power outlet and see if that fixes the issue.
- Most times, a power cycle will fix minor power and software issues on TVs.
If that however doesn’t work for you, you need to open up the TV and inspect the boards. Which section to narrow down the issue to will depend on the signs the TV provides. These signs include:
- The number of times the power light blinks on the TV
- Whether the light starts blinking before pressing the power button on the TV/remote or after pressing it
- Whether you can hear sounds on your TV and only have picture issues, or both sound and picture are not working
- and many more
However, if all of these do not fix the issue, then you should probably just get a new smart TV.
