Since just a few days I have been getting the following error message, which happens after loading:
Error in GPS_engine. Flight plan will not be used.
The order usually is important, to reproduce this error message.
Usually I start at the FSX Free Flight window and this is where I start planning.
— I load a flight plan and choose not to be moved to the airport
— I choose an airport and gate (same as deperature airport on the flight plan)
— I choose weather
— I choose aircraft
I start loading. Immediately after loading I get an aircraft crash or splash. Sometimes my aircraft is loaded completely somwhere else. (If crash detection is off then my aircraft starts going overspeed and acts in an uncontrollable way, but I leave crash detection on, just for testing I turned it off) so FSX shows an aircraft crash and starts loading again. Shortly after I see an GPS_engine error. This flight plan will not be used.
I am trying hard to think what I have done since this problem and the only thing I installed was an FSUIPC update (FSUIPC4853 installer and the replaced module to FSUIPC4858), I reverted back but same problem, so I installed the new update again. I also tried out FSTramp but have removed it since.
Has anyone come across this problem?
Hope I posted this in the right category, since I am not sure what is causing this, I don’t know where to post the topic, as I am not sure what is causing the issue.

Like I stated, it is one of the flight plans. Jay’s issue was with the default plane and flight. It is impossible to be anything else.

Actually, I dont have a clue what caused it. As long as Ive been using FS I have never seen that message until today, its weird someone else posted about it.
Since I use the 172 as default and there is no flight plan loaded with it, why the GPS message appeared baffled me. As a lucky guess, I simply hit the save button on the loading screen, and re-saved the same plane as default and it cleared the message, I didnt have to delete any flight plans, rebuild the fsx.cfg, or anything else.. FSX can be a real head scratcher at times lol

Error loading GPS engine
A new problem cropped up today. I was loading P3D Almost immediately, I got the error message «Error loading GPS engine. The flight plan will not be used.» This was before I had loaded any flightplans, selected an aircraft, starting point or anything else. Any ideas how to correct this error. I tried loading several times and got the same error each time. Thanks

Your default startup situation (as is the correct name?) contains the reference to a flight plan file, which has since been deleted. Save the startup situation again without a loaded flight plan.

This can also happen if the flight plan which was loaded into the plane when the flight was saved is moved, renamed or deleted.
As mentioned, if you load a default flight (which I don’t to prevent this and other problems) it’s best to create the saved flight with no flight plan loaded. I keep the default flight the same as the original sim and load my desired saved flight manually. This way I avoid the sim crashing when loading default flights saved with certain add-on aircraft and I load up saved flight with various aircraft loaded cold and dark.
