If you are getting issues about application (excavator.exe) being blocked by Windows Defender security, then we are also aware that there is no way to make any decision about this block, because it is simply not visible anywhere. There are 2 possible solutions you can take:

  1. After you install NiceHash QuickMiner and Windows Defender starts blocking it, perform manual virus scan of the folder where you installed NiceHash QuickMiner. This will show you the blocked file and give you options to react. Please, choose «Allow on device». This is going to help in the future so it does not keep happening if enough people choose «Allow on device» because this protection is based on reputation.
  2. Turn off Reputation based protection as visible on the following picture: https://github.com/nicehash/NiceHashQuickMiner/wiki/Troubleshooting#defender-issue We do not recommend doing this one as it makes your PC less secure.

I don`t understand the set up as i downloaded yet not working

Still doesn’t work for me. Every time I click «Allow on Device» it defaults back and then the miner won’t work. Any other work arounds?

OMG I fixed it 🥳 With the new Windows Defender settings, many of the above steps won’t work. Ie. simply enabling «Allow on device» does not work.

Instead, do this:

  • Go to «Windows Security»
  • Go to «Virus & thread protection»
  • Scroll down to «Exclusions»
  • Click «Add or remove exclusions»
  • Click «Add an exclusion»
  • Select «Folder» from the drop down
  • Navigate to your «NiceHash Miner» folder
  • Click «Select Folder»

Now open NiceHashMiner.exe and it should work! No more pop ups either!

Looks like you did this for NiceHash Miner? It is another product that we do not care so much regarding AVs, because it is actually less secure — it runs 3rd party software that we don’t know what is inside.

But when it comes to NiceHash QuickMiner, it should not have any issues with any AV and we will fight this to happen one day, one way or another.

I have the same issue. AV is turned off on all levels yet the Windows removes the file as I am downloading it from Chrome and Edge. I downloaded an older installer, which went under AV radar. But when I installed the most recent version NiceHash QuickMiner, AV removed the exe file. No traces of this removal in AV history. Also, adding the QuickMiner installation folder to the AV safelist does not help. I am stuck. Any ideas?

I have the same issue all my AV is turned off but still cant launch it. I cant see the exclusion button bc its turned off.

This is the same for NiceHash QuickMiner too. If your account is controlled by work etc, then your security credentials through AV are higher and QuickMiner still gets picked up by AV.

Unfortunately, this does not work. Read my first post. It seems as if Defender (intentionally?) ignores exclusion list when it comes to mining software.

There are also reports of another AV product (webroot) which, when NHQM is whitelisted and when AV is disabled, would still mess with NHQM and «silently» kill the process: #315 (comment)

Bugs? Coincidence that all AVs have sooo many bugs when it comes to making exclusion of mining software? I would be more convinced by a conspiracy theory. The big tech is getting scared… and they should be.

Worked for me. Just had to add it back to the list of exclusions, do a PC restart and now works fine.
When WD updates it removes exclusions, so need to add them back in and then it works again.

Please stop claiming: «We eliminated the need for a 3rd party software like ETHlargmentPill, which is not signed, and we cannot guarantee its safety.» As you can see Defender, Chrome and other (safe) products clearly don’t (and would not) see miners as safe products.

That is Windows Defender blocking download. Temporary disable it and it should work.

That is their policy which does not have technical justification. Real analysis of any software to determine whether it is really a malware is very expensive. It is much cheaper to just mark software as malware upon certain heuristic analysis. This gives user impression that AV is doing its job. The reality is completely opposite — by doing false positives, user gets only impression of security. It is also worth mentioning that top tier real malware is capable of bypassing all AVs as it is specially crafted in a way to do it.

Hash values do not guarantee safety of software — they only guarantee that the software was not modified. At the end, it is your decision whether to trust authors of software or not. And when it comes closed source binaries this is all you have (or expensive reverse engineering to make security analysis). In my opinion, it is easier ti trust software that has know authors (names, company). The fact that they are known prevents them from making any stupidity as there would be no benefit for them by putting malware into binary they made.

I did but WD is still targeting the exe file. Any updates or alternatives on how to handle this issue?

I disabled both the anti virus and and windows defender and the issue persists.
Before all this the software was working fine for about two days.
It stopped and I had to reinstall and that’s when all this started.

Every time I download it and open it after it is done, it says «No compatible hardware detected» and says restart computer. It still does not work when I restart it. What do I do?

Здравствуйте всем, ребята подскажите может кто знает. Майню на найсхешь майнер экскаватор, сегодня что то с майнером творится не пойму, в конце строчек надпись clean. Что это значит? Да видно доходность падает.

Сам надеюсь переведёшь: In Excavator, when a job has a suffix (clean), all previous jobs are stale and can no longer be mined.

я тоже. 0.19.12 просто они тирекс випилили, а возвращать не хотят.

Сложно сказать, выбери другой майнер в найсе. Экскаватор так себе

На самом деле экскаватор — ЛУЧШИЙ, стабильный как скала майнер! НО только для не LHR карт. У знакомых 3060-3060ти первых выпусков: публика с ноября прошлого года визжит и плачет от Счастья и стабильного (пассивного) дохода, сидя всей конторой верхом на экскаваторе! Никаких шаманств и плясок в обнимку с курвой, как с nbminer, LoLminer!

«core initialized» — такими строчками заканчивается работа фермы / рига.

Вроде бы все хорошо, и 1-2-4 раза в сутки риг перестает майнить и появляется такое сообщение:

Что думаешь NiceHash?

Сменил, но это не помогло.

Испробовал и проверил многое, и когда казалось бы уже вариантов нет — обратил внимание на версию майнера NiceHashMiner/2.0.1.10

Откопав прошлую версию NiceHashMiner/2.0.1.8 — ставлю, проходит сутки, двое, вот оно решение!  boast   laugh
