Xerox Docucolor 250 shows fault code 042-326 but freezes when repair is attempted
Display shows 042-326 which is IBT belt position. I’ve already taken the belt out, cleaned the IBT belt cleaner, centered the belt. I need to perform the ADJ adjustment to realign the belt start position, but PWS will not connect to the machine anymore. When I press and hold 0 for 5 seconds and then press Start, I can enter 6789 but when I press CONFIRM then the machine freezes. So I cannot reset anything, or connect. I have power cycled many times, even left the machine off for hours..
So this post might be better titled — «PWS will not connect» or «Service mode causes freeze» but I posted it with the error displayed.

Try the «diagnostics» without connecting the PWS. Then reset NVM location 741-105 to 0.
Also make sure you remove and clean with compressed air, the belt edge sensor and the home position monitor sensor.

Without PWS connected, it gives the same result. I can enter the «6789» to get into Diagnostics, but when I press CONFIRM, the interface locks up.
A few more clues: (1) It displays a «Network Controller Fault» in Machine Status. (2) I can connect using CWS 5, and can clear print jobs.
I realize that resetting 741-105 to 0 is necessary, but I cannot do it, either thru Diagnostics or thru PWS.

Initializes the NVM of the configuration range (Printer Settings etc.) inside the Controller and starts up.-Forced HDD Format

This operation resets the HDD to partitions at factory settings.Good Luck!

This is the last version of machine software.
You must use DC 250 pws diagnostic tool version 2.0 and try to reload the firmware using individual files.
First you must reload iot file version 8.32.0 and after that try again to enter into service menu from UI or pws.
If dont work try with IIT file, same procedure, and after that controller file.
But in the most cases after you reload iot file you will be able to enter service mode and see the fault history.

Scott, thank you so much. The first (Forced NVM Init) did not work, but the second did! I was able to reset the counter to 0 and run the belt adjustment. It looks like there is still an error, so now I’ll need to work on the belt, but that’s a different thread (if even needed). Thank you so much! That worked!

If the fault 042-326 was declared 3 times in succession the print mode of the machine will be disabled. In order to clear this error you need to reset the NVM location 741-105 to 0. The error states that the IBT Belt Home position was not detected in time. Try the procedure below, but if you still get the error then there is a problem in the IBT area of the machine. It could be something simple like dirt of the sensor, a missing silver patch on the underside of the IBT belt or it could be the something to do with the tracking device on the IBT assembly.
To Get Into Service Mode; Press the 0 button for 5 seconds, then press start whilst still holding the 0 button.
Type in 6789 as the password and then press confirm. Press the log in/log out button
Go to systems settings common settings maintenance Change the NVM location 741-105 to 0 (on 550 560 570 C60 C70 it’s 741-119, DCP 700 700i 770 it’s 741-106, C75 J75 it’s 741-132, Versant 80 180 741-700, Versant 280 is 741-525), save and restart the machine.

Xerox 252, fault code 042-326 or 042-327
we just cleared a Bad Paper jam on our xerox 252, restarted the machine and now its giving us fault 042-326. Tried to move and center IBT Belt, then got fault code 042-327. Are these 2 faults related? How can they be cleared? Iam missing something?

I cleaned the silver patch inside the belt. Now it’s mainly fault 042-327Is there a way to set the belt in zero position?

First you need to remove the IBT assembly and make sure the belt is installed so that the IBT belt edge and the IBT belt frame are approx the same distance from the front and rear.
Next you need to run the Belt Edge Learn adjustment.
Enter diagnostics mode:
Press and hold the 0 key for 5 seconds.
While still holding the 0 key, press the start key.
The CE Access Number screen will appear.
Enter 6789 and confirm.
The topmost area of the UI display will change to a white banner with black lettering to let the user know that the mode has changed to the CE mode.Press the log in/out button.
select system settings
select common settings
select maintenance / diagnostics
select sub system
select belt edge learn
select startHope that fixes it for you. If not there are a bunch of additional steps to troubleshoot this error.

You can get a silver patch and place before the current silver patch. However, saying that I have replaced 2 pretty good belts due to the weather conditions. On days that are too cold I have noticed the edges of the belt curl upwards and the silver patch is sometimes not detected. When the room is an appropriate temperature the edges seem to go back into the appropriate shape.

Try to cut new silver patch from oracal film, and replace old patch with new one. I did that many times.

Make sure the optical sensor that reads the reflective patch is clean. Tends to get dusty.

Hi
I am getting this error code 042-326 on my xerox dc250 can anyone help?I have tried holding down the 0 key for 5 secs then pressing enter, then entering 6789 and reset NVM location 741-105 to 0
it has now went onto the screen with copy, scan and stored progames, with copy and scan blanked out
When searching online it says that this error code is the transfer belt, ours was only replaced before xmas -

There is a small silver color sensor on the back side of the transfer belt on top side you will see it while moving the belt with hand slowly there is a black spot on top its the sensor, which needs to be cleaned with a wet tissue paper and then reset the code

XEROX 700i Transfer belt error 042-326
We have replaced the Transfer Belt for Error 042-326as the belt itself is actually pretty worn out. We cannot get the Error to reset? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

All sonds good. thanks all you guys, we mostly work on Konica Minoltas but every now and then get these nightmare calls. The account we have trusts our guys rather than the Local Xerox Dealers. So go figure??? All the help is appreciated, Thanks a bunch.

How do you get rid of error code 42-326 on the xerox 700 digital color press?

I believe that is the transfer belt silver patch is not being detected by the edge sensor, the patch and all rollers will need to be cleaned and the patch inspected for any damage or missing patch, then will need to do belt edge training to resolve the problem.

Ok, so you get that error fix — but you have rebooted the machine too many times. Now it is locked in the copy only mode. What is the code to reset the block?

Try this:
From your message you sound like someone who is trained in servicing this machine and you probably well know that using this procedure is at your own risk:
Hold down 0 (zero) for 5 seconds and press start (green) button
Enter 6789, confirm
Press log in/log out button or the key button
Press systems settings, common settings, maintenance, NVM read/ write
Enter nvm 741-105 and change it to 0 (zero)
I have also seen advice to, after cleaning or replacing the transfer belt, to check the belt hole sensor for paper dust or other contamination. -

I have cleaned the IT belt but code is still there and therefore want to clear it and I don’t know how to enter the diagnostic mode

Wondering if anyone is still monitoring this thread. I am having this same issue and I have replaced the belt, replaced the sensor and attempted to reset the NVM code but the error continues. Anybody have any other ideas or thoughts on this?
