The error is generally caused by insufficient or incorrect permissions on the named registry keys, or parent container of such registry keys. Follow to steps below and see if that can fix the issue;

1) Click Start > Type Run in the search bar > Type regedit in the Run command

2) Navigate to the location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components

3) Right click the folder Components and select Permissions from the drop down menu

4) Select «Add» in the “Permissions for Components” window that opens up and add in the «Administrator«, «Administrators» and «SYSTEM» accounts.

5) Back on the first «Permissions for Components» dialog box, click on each account in the top-list and make sure each has the «Full Control = Allow» and «Read = Allow» permissions.

6) Click the «Advanced» button so that the «Advanced Security Settings» dialog box appears:

7) On the «Permissions tab» enable the checkmark box named «Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object«, then press the «Apply» button.

On the «Owner» tab, highlight the «Administrators» name in the lower listbox, enable the checkmark box called «Replace owner on subcontainers and objects» and press the «ApplyButton».

9) Please repleat steps 7 and 8. This timethere should not be any errors about not being able to update the permissions on the child keys.

10) Click OK and then Apply.

Once done with the above steps rerun the installation and see if that works without issues.

I downloaded CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 and I can not install it in to my computer. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

During the installation this text appeared:

Error 1402. setup cannot open the registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/OptionalComponents/MSFS. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access to the registry or contact the microsoft product support service for assistance. (Error 1402.jpg)

Then I Clicked Start, typed regedit in the Start Search box, and then clicked regedit in the Programs list and went to msfs file.(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/OptionalComponents/MSFS)

In there i see error. It says: MSFS cannot be opened. An error is preventing this key from being opened. Details: Access is denied. (MSFS.jpg)

Everything was just like this instruction said.

But still I can not install CorelDraw X5 to my computer, Same Error 1402.

I am trying to install a new version of CorelDRAW 2021 on my windows 11 Home Computer 22H2 installed, OS build 22623.1255I have verified with CorelDRAW that my license key is valid, no problem there. Every time it gets to the pictured point and after I click OK it gets to where it is installing Microsoft Visuall C++ 2019 and then install stops, the window disappears and install doesn’t finish.I have tried resetting the permissions, while signed in as Administrator account, permission denied.I tried SFC, Windows startup repair, DISM, and Subinacl. Nothing has worked.I need help! CorelDRAW

Thank you for your response with the current update on the issue.

Glad to know that you are able to resolve the issue by reinstalling the software on the computer.

Regarding the issue with selecting the compatibility mode. As you are using a CD drive to install the CorelDraw X7 software. We to first open the CD drive content by following steps and then follow the steps provided in the previous post to install the software
in compatibility mode.

1. Open File Explorer.

2. Then right click on DVD/CD drive with CorelDraw X7 software.

3. Click on Open option.

4. Then right click on Setup program file from the list and follow the steps provided in the previous post to install the program in compatibility mode.

Note: As the issue seems to be resolved, so I suggest you to perform the steps if you face the issue again in future.

Folder won’t open due to permission issue

  Important you must be logged on as an administrator to change permissions on files and folders.
- Press and hold or right-click the file or folder, and then tap or click
  Properties.
- Tap or click the Security tab.
- Under Group or user names, tap or click your name to see the permissions that you have.
- Tap or click Edit, tap or click your name, select the check boxes for the permissions that you must have, and then click
  OK.

Suggest you to uninstall and reinstall CorelDraw 8 and check if that works.

If issue persist, install in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to install the CorelDraw 8 in compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below on how to install
CorelDraw 8 in compatibility mode:

1. Download the CorelDraw 8from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the CorelDraw 8install and then check the functionality.

I am trying very hard to Uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1.0 but I am continually stopped by this error which says I have insufficient access rights to delete the Registry entry. I was originally trying to install the latest upgrade.

1) I have looked through the Knowledge Base and NO solutions are there.

2) I have scoured the Forums and no one has found a solution.

3) From searching these places and the web, it appears that many people have the same problem.

4) To this point Adobe’s Support has been noting short of utterly Abysmal. All they say to do is: go to Control Panel and uninstall it. (OR ask for a Support Contract which is unacceptable for this issue)

5) I can only hope that nothing goes wrong with my currently installed version because it is very apparent that I will never be able re-install or upgrade it.

6) BTW, I have tried setting the Permissions on this key in the Registry ( with backups of course) for SYSTEM and ADMINISTRATORS to FULL and that does not help.

So Adobe Support, if by freak luck, you may be reading this, I would really like you to figure this out and provide a working solution.

Any script which will clean out Adobe Reader completely would be great.

For the record I am running Vista 64bit SP2 on a system with a Quad9550 cpu and 8BG of ram.

I find it curious that the key mentioned is «….MACHINE32\….» but there are NO entries at all like that in my Registry, only …MACHINE\… That may have something to do with this issue.

PLEASE, thanks in advance for anyone’s advice but I want to hear only from people who have discovered a proven working solution: i.e no guess work.
