So, with expectations being set, here are the necessary steps to perform to fix unfortunately Bluetooth share has stopped error message.
#Option 1:
- Step 1: Ensure that your phone/tablet’s Android version is up-to-date.
- Step 2: Go to Settings and scroll down to the bottom. Tap on “About” and Tab on “System Updates“
- Step 3: Check and download if any updates are available.

#Option 2:
- Step 1: Try pairing the Bluetooth device with another 3rd party phone.
- Step 2: If the Bluetooth device is also not pairing with the 3rd device, then the problem might be isolated to the Bluetooth device and not your phone. If the Bluetooth device is successfully paired with the 3rd device, then the problem can be isolated to your phone.
- Step 3: Go to your Phone Settings>BlueTooth>Unpair & Delete the device from the List. Try deleting the device from the Bluetooth device with which you are trying to pair your phone if possible. For example, In car audio systems, you can find the list of phones with which it is configured.
#Option 3:
Try rebooting the mobile into safe mode. It might differ for different phone vendors. In our case, these are the steps:
- Step 1: Press and hold the power button while the screen is On. #Reboot
- Step 2: Press to keep the volume down button when the phone reboots.
- Step 3: Doing this will only load the default phone apps and services.
- Step 4: While the device is in safe mode, try pairing the Bluetooth device.
Note: Do note if the fix Unfortunately Bluetooth Share Has Stopped Error still persists.
#Option 4: Requires Root access!
Before proceeding, do note that this is an advanced step and users needs to proceed with extreme caution. Any wrong file modification may result in data loss or may void your phone warranty. Here are the steps:
- Step 1: Ensure that you install a File Explorer application to browse your root files.
- Step 2: Turn off Bluetooth first, and browse to “/datamedia/misc/bluedroid“. Look for the file called “bt_config.XML“
- Step 3: Create a backup of the file or rename it to bt_config.xml_old
- Step 4: Open the file in a text editor. Proceed to delete the devices listed under <N2 Tag=”remote”> and </N2>. You can leave the Bluetooth devices that you intend to keep.
- Step 5: Save the file as bt_config.xml in the same location. Try reconnecting to the device again.
This error is only experienced when devices running Android are exposed to a large number of unique hardware addresses (Including Bluetooth) which overwhelms the subsystem.

I have an HTC One running Android Revolution HD (ARHD), with Android 4.4.2, and I’ve been getting this error that says «Bluetooth share has stopped working».
The problem is that I have no clue what’s causing this error to appear. I think it started appearing after I clicked the «share» button in an app — but even after fully rebooting my device, I STILL keep getting this error.
Does anyone know what could cause this error? And more importantly — how do I debug what app is causing this error? I just don’t even know where to start investigating.

The only way I could fix this on my HTC One V was to perform a factory reset.

Go to settings/apps/ show system apps and find any bluetooth related app and force close and wipe data of the apps, reboot and see if that clears it up. Else as mentioned factory reset.

According to OP’s (now deleted) comment,
@RossC Thanks for the ideas! I decided to try disabling apps that potentially use bluetooth one by one to see which one fixed the issue and I found the culprit (I think)! Turns out it was Automatic app (car app) that seemed to cause it. I’ve filed a bug and kept it disabled for now. Thanks guys!

Love the service, albeit a few issues lately.
1) The new logo is UGLY. Whoever decided to take away the nice, shaded darker green logo and color scheme we love and replace it with a boring, solid, baby poop-colored logo and color scheme should rethink this. It clashes with the rest of the black and white color theme, and is unpleasant to look at. From what I’ve seen, people are very much in agreement.
2) On my Galaxy S3 SPHL710, Bluetooth crashes & Android says «Bluetooth share has stopped» every time the song changes (both manually skipping, or automatically). Closing the dialog, letting Bluetooth reconnect, and skipping songs causes it to happen again. And again. And again…
3) Spotify used to allow you to swipe through the «coming up» songs in a playlist, to pick the next one you want, without actually playing the song. Now, swiping actually plays the song instead of letting you just see it. This was/is a very important feature to me.
I think the general consensus is that people are tired of unnecessary changes to the app. Whatever management decisions were made to cause the quality of code to go down (why are we getting so many updates to an app over 20MB in size, several times a week?), to cause the logo color to be changed, etc… these management changes need to be undone if Spotify really wants to stay on top. Apple music is going to draw in many people, and Spotify needs to step up their game or the service is going to crumble. Don’t take away the features your customers want. Give them a stable app. Listen to them!
Anyways, a simple downgrade to 3.2.0.1197 via apkmirror.com resolved the crashes, got rid of the ugly logo, and brought back features that are very important to me. Side note: Remember to disable automatic updates, or the new version will automatically install.
