Describe the Bug
BetterDiscord is not starting whatsoever after a recent update put out by Discord. Restarting Discord either via CTRL+R or closing and reopening is not launching BD either.

This comes after a long «Downloading Update» popup appeared before Discord launched.

Not sure how widespread this is (or if it needs to be addressed by the devs via a patch), but downloading the installer and using repair does seem to mitigate the issue. I will wait for a developer to comment before closing the issue, or they can do it if they feel there is no need to address this.
On M1 MBP Big Sur 11.6, it loads in for a second then crashes, repair through installer does not fix the issue. If there are any logs or more info I can give, let me know.

Not working for me. It crashes even after uninstalling/installing and repairing. Intel MBP with Mojave 10.14

yes this problem is only in Mac. The canary version works.

This is not a mac only problem, I have the same issue and I’m not on a mac.
I have same issue on Windows 11, repairing did not fix
EDIT: Downloaded new installer from website and repair worked fine
ran into the same issue on windows 10 for discord stable. repairing fixed it
Tested on Windows 10(21H1 incase someone interested), Repairing can fixes this bugs.

Tested on MacOS Big Sur (11.5.2, MacBook Air M1 2020), Reinstalled Discord(mine was stucking on updating) and repair BD, and it working again.
had the same issue after update, can also confirm repair/reinstall fixed it on windows 10 (20h2)
Reinstall works for me but if Discord reopens it dies and needs to be reinstalled.
I only had to reinstall once, then BD worked fine again.

repair via installer fixed it too, for me.

Hmm repairing and reinstalling BD worked for me now, maybe it was because I had an old installation file. Same file name tho.
repair didnt work for me, but uninstalling it and reinstalling it with the latest installer worked

Completely Uninstalling Discord on macOS
- Firstly, open Finder, select Applications from the left pane and right-click the Discord application and select Move to Trash.
- Afterwards, open the Trash Bin, right-click it and select Empty Trash.
- Next, you’ll need to delete the Discord app data entirely. Therefore, select Go from the App Menu, then from the drop-down, choose “Go to Folder…”. Subsequently, in the search box type, ~/Library, and click Go.
- At the next window, search for Discord and delete the Discord file, by right-clicking it and selecting Move to Trash. Next, you can empty the Trash Bin again.
Finally, for both Windows and macOS, go to the Discord website, and download the Discord client installation file again. Then, run the installation file and proceed with the usual guided installation steps.
