Добавить память. Если уже не лезет (ХР) перейти на х64 винду. На большом количестве векторных объектов вполне вероятная ситуация. Если памяти и так дофига значит глюк иллюстратора и надо искать корявый объект которым может оказаться даже какая-нибудь точка. Ну и всевозможные плагины не добавляют иллюстратору устойчивости — проблемы совместимости (особенно если на халяву)

Вообще говоря, возвращаясь к нашему прежнему разговору о наращивании мощностей компьютера, я считаю, что это зло. Развращает неопытного дизайнера. Если на машине мало оперативы, он сто раз подумает, прежде чем вставить в макет растровый битмап на 2400 dpi с прозрачностями или запустит трассировку полноцветного изображения на миллион узлов. А когда у него открыты горизонты в виде какого-нибудь 64 битного корела с террабайтом оперативы, он просто не задумываясь набрасывает на макет все что надо. Естественно, он рано или поздно все равно упрется и в этот потолок — ресурсов много не бывает никогда и чем больше их есть, тем больше хочется. Просто, иногда поражаешься, когда присылают на восстановление кореловские публикации по гигабайту весом по несколько сот страниц с растровой графикой высокого разрешения на каждой. У меня бы такая публикация в силу системных ограничений просто не создалась бы, а если бы и создалась, то компьютер на полчаса бы зависал при каждом движении мыши. Но почему-то считается, что дизайнеры — они люди творческие, их нужно всячески ограждать от таких низменных вещей, как последующая печать их творений в типографии.

Мне на самом деле интересно, это ж сколько объектов и узлов должно быть в макете, чтобы 3 гигабайта оперативки не хватало?
Может, имеет смысл разбить макет на части или вообще в растре делать? Или (как я подозреваю) дело все таки в чем то другом?

нет . все должно быть векторным и в одном файле. объектов много десятков тыс. зависит от конкретной задачи

Чисто вектор корел неплохо переваривает в больших объемах.
Проще глянуть кусочек макета, а то непонятно зачем там маски.

Не знаю, сделал в кореле X3 больше 100 тысяч объектов на 2 гигах, конечно, немного подтормаживает, но вцелом вполне сносно работает. Хотя, конечно, если каждый объект имеет на себе какой-нибудь эффект, можно и на десятке объектов корел убить

А можно ссылку на какой-нибудь ресурс, с описанием, что за гальванопластика и почему она требует многих десятков тысяч векторных объектов?
Вообще, программы, которые заточены под громадное количество вектора, используют всевозможные прокси, связки, слои, и там можно хоть миллионы объектов рисовать. Например мне в mapinfo приносят с десяток разных файлов из которых собирается единая карта одним щелчком. Может стоит тоже попробовать разбивать работу на слои или даже файлы?

памяти 8 а использует всего 2,3. это на семерке 64 бит. люстра

32 бита

Так для неё 8 Гб памяти и не существует. 32-х битному Иллюстратору система все-равно больше 2х Гб памяти не даст.
