• I have an ASUS VivoTab Note 8 (comes with Windows 8.1 x32) and I have this peculiar problem when trying to update Windows ever since I bought it.

  For some reason, KB2967917 (July update) plainly refuses to install, with the error code 0x8020002B. The only way I can get it to install is by deleting the SoftwareDistribution Downloads folder and try trying again, or manually downloading the update.

  I have restored the system a few times for various different reasons, but I ALWAYS have trouble installing this update. Other updates seem to install properly, or even if they don’t the first time, they do the second time. I even have the August update installed
  but the July update just refuses to be installed.

  I have tried sfc /scannow but no integrity issues were found. I did try online DISM once before but nope.

  Any idea why I am experiencing this weird phenomena?

1. Click Start and start typing on your keyboard for «services.msc»

2. In your search results «services.msc» should show up. Open it with a click.
3. A new windows will open containing all Windows services on your system.

4. Search for «Windows Update»
5. Right-click the «Windows Update» and then click Stop.

1. Hold your windows-key pressed and hit «R» key simultanous.
2. A small new windows will appear.
3. Type regedit in this new windows and hit Enter.
4. In the new windows you have a navigation on the left side. Use it to navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

5. Once you found it, search for WUServer and WIStatusServer in the right hand pane.
6. If they are not listet we cannot clean the download path. Othwerwise delete both.
7. Restart your computer.

  I turned on my computer this morning and shortly received the message that updates did not.  When I clicked on the message, above what was evidence.  I tried to do some troubleshooting on mine, without success.  I had received an error message telling me that an unauthorized change was made to Windows (which I did) and that I receive no updates on my license or activation of last week.  I went through the process to validate the system.  I went for the weekend, and this is what I came back.

  Sometimes, this error can be produced when the system is in selective startup mode. As such, I would like take you a look at this.

  Here are some things you can try to resolve the error code with regard to the update of Windows.

  Method 1:

  Make sure that you connect from an account with administrative rights to complete these steps.

  (a) click Start.

  (b) type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.

  (c) at the command prompt, type «net stop wuauserv» without the quotes and press ENTER.

  (d) type «rmdir /s % windir%\softwaredistribution\wuredir» without the quotes and press ENTER.

  (e) when you get the prompt, ‘are you sure (Y/N)?»type Y.

  (f) type net start wuauserv, and then press ENTER.

  (g) try to install updates again.

  Method 2:

  Reset the Windows Update components and then try to perform the updates.

  Click on the correction of these components to zero automatically.

  I am running Vista Home Basic Edition and have been impossible to install SP1 or 99.9% of other updates.  I tried to update, the standalone version and the tool rediness and probibly methods more that I don’t remember.  In addition, my connection constantly drops, could only be linked to the absence of SP1?  Any help would be appreachiated.  Thank you

  If the problem persists after trying the steps suggested by «Jose Antonio Ponton Posada CEO», I suggest you to manually install the updates one by one on your computer and install it using the cleanboot and check if the problem reappears.

  Download and save the Setup on your desktop package and try to install the same one by one and check what update is causing the problem.

  To do this, you must enter the number of the Windows Update in the search field in the link provided below.

  To set up the computer in mode cleanboot this procedure below.

  Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.
