All is now well!!!!! Turns out that the memory sticks were not properly seated. When I finally got them properly seated, everything is working perfectly. I always err on the side of using less force, but in this case, more force was the answer.
I have the following parts and am unable to boot the system.
Supermicro X11SSH-CTF-B LGA1151/ Intel C236/ DDR4/ SATA3&SAS3&USB3.0/ V&2GbE/ MicroATX Server Motherboard
Timetec Hynix IC 32GB KIT (2x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz PC4-21300 Unbuffered ECC 1.2V CL19 2Rx8 Dual Rank 288 Pin UDIMM Server Memory RAM Module Upgrade
Xeon E3-1230 v6
If I am reading everything properly, these parts should be compatible but when the system boots, I see the following on the monitor,
PEI — IPMI Initialization
then I hear 5 short beeps and one long beep that according to the users manual indicates a memory error
And the monitor reads
0X06 = mrcReadMPRErr
I have tried only one memory module and cleared the CMOS.
Is there an incompatibility that I am missing?
All Help Will Be Greatly Appreciated.
Thanks
Bob Ivey

Hi, this is my first post connected with new hardware.
I’m starting to build up a server.
I have such a devices:
MB: SuperMicro X11SSL-F
CPU: e3-1230v6
RAM: Samsung 4x16GB 2400 UDIMM ECC.
I had build up the PC, run it and I hear 5 short beeps and one long.
Then I entered to the IMPI and I see following Hardware list.

Here is stated bios 2.0c, but on the other site there is an 2.1a
On monitor I see something like that:

What should I do?

- place one stick of ram in slot DIMMA1
- reset your ipmi back to factory default
- reboot the system
-
#3
did it,
now there is other issue
the system works only with 2 memory slots occupied — so only 32GB ram.
If I put 3.rd or 4th ram stick the system can not boot.
I get such error exactly:
Code:
0x09=mrcDataTimeCentering1DErr
I can only occupy the 2 first slots from the top (black and blue)

Are all four of the ram modules part#M391A2K43BB1-CRC ???
Test each stick (one at a time) in the first ram slot (if one of the
sticks fails to boot) you may have a bad stick of ram.

my system (X11-SSM) had same problems with 4pcs of 16GB modules (beeps at startup, 0x09=mrcDataTimeCentering1DErr, etc). I got information from Supermicro support about hardware limitations for SSM/SSL/SSH mainboards. And after setting jumpers to disable SMBus — system can start normally, w/o beeps and with all 64GB.
Very easy to check, but i don’t know where is TS — yacenty

PEI—SB Initialization... (появляется на миллисекунду) PEI—Intel MRC Execution...

I recently built a new server which I’ve been testing successfully without peripherals. I picked up a PERC H200 that I intend to flash to IT mode (but is currently in IR mode) that I intended to use for my HBA. Unfortunately, when I install the card, the system refuses to boot.
The relevant components of the system in question are:
-
Supermicro X11SSM-F (BIOS 2.0a)
-
Xeon E3-1240 v6
-
Kingston ValueRAM 16GB 2133MHz DDR4 ECC x4
Before failing to POST, it beeps 5 shorts and 1 long, indicating «No memory detected in system». It also displays «6=mrcReadMPRErr» on the screen.
I’ve tried reseating the card and tried both CPU and PCH PCI-E slots. I don’t want to try it in my existing production server, but I tried it in two desktop systems. The newer system gives the same result, a POST error code that indicates that no memory is installed. The older system (still has PCI slots) POSTs fine and I can go into the PERC configuration utility without issue. It shows MPT Firmware Revision 2.15.63.00-IR and Package Version 7.01.33.00.
I’d appreciate any input on how I should proceed.
Update 1
I flashed the device to IT mode but, unfortunately, it had no effect on the POSTing problem.
Update 2
The H310 tape mod actually worked, well mostly. It allowed the system to POST:
-
H310 mod on problematic H200 — 01
-
H310 mod on problematic H200 — 02
All is not perfect, however, it takes 3 minutes from the LSI copyright notice before the Initializing… & Ctrl-C prompts show, and then another 2 minutes after hitting Ctrl-C for the configuration utility to show. (And not just on the first boot after flashing.) I know these will be gone once I flash to IT mode, but I worry that this card might have problems. I’m unsure if I should trust it. Any thoughts?
Update 3
I’ve decided to try to return it to the seller and ordered another one from elsewhere. It just seems to be a problematic card. Thanks for the input all.
Update 4
A new H200 from a different seller arrived, and so far it’s doing the same thing! I’m really perplexed. I’m going to try the H310 tape mod and see what happens.
Update 5
With the H310 tape mod and flashed to IT mode P20, the device and connected drives are showing up in ESXi. I’m going to hook up the remaining drives and breakout cable and then setup the PCI passthrough and begin burn-in testing.
I’m not certain I trust this situation yet and I also worry a bit about the longevity of the tape mod, but I don’t have a lot of options unless I want to keep buying cards. I’ll report back one way or the other.
Update 6
I completed a full badblocks burn-in and SMART reported no errors. So I think the H200 + H310 tape mod + IT mode flash is working okay.

Specs:
-
Motherboard: Supermicro X11SSM (https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X11SSM)
-
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1260V6 (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/52271/intel-xeon-processor-e3-1230-8m-cache-3-20-ghz.html)
-
RAM: 2x16GB DDR4 2400MHz ECC UDIMM (https://www.ebay.com/itm/202102125201)
And for reference, here is the memory support section from motherboard quick-start guide: https://i.imgur.com/enW6zON.png
For my memory configuration (2x16gb) the recommended DIMM slots to be used are DIMMB2 and DIMMA2. When I first attempted booting with the RAM in this configuration, I was met with the memory error beep code from the motherboard and the following error in IPMI: 0x06=mrcReadMPRErr
.
Thinking that I maybe had some bad memory, I reduced my configuration to a single card in DIMMB2, and success! I was able to boot. I swapped that stick out for the other (same slot, DIMMB2) and was met with similar success. I then tried a single card in DIMMA2 and got the same mrcReadMPRErr
as before. I figured I would try a few more configurations, and when I slotted the RAM in DIMMB2 and DIMMB1, I was able to boot with the full 32 GB.
So my question is: is something wrong with the DIMM slots on my motherboard? By having my memory in this configuration, am I missing out on the memory interleaving that the quick start guide mentioned? If so, is this a big deal?
I am not planning on expanding beyond 32 GB of RAM (CPU only supports 32GB anyway), so if one of the DIMM slots is broken, then so be it, but I don’t want performance to be heavily impacted. Any suggestions/wisdom/knowledge would be appreciated! Thank you.

I got information from Supermicro support about hardware limitations for SSM/SSL/SSH mainboards. And after setting jumpers to disable SMBus — system can start normally, w/o beeps and with all 64GB.
Very easy to check, but i don’t know where is TS — yacenty
RSA- I was having this exact issue whenever I tried putting in 4DIMMS… your post saved me a ton of wasted time and heartache!!! Thank you!!!!

PEI—SB Initialization... (появляется на миллисекунду) PEI—Intel MRC Execution...

dompro, Error code 2F means memory initialization. It is generated thru the BIOS. You may have memory issue. Please check your memory DIMMs and motherboard’s DIMM sockets.
